We are looking for an experienced, analytical, and highly collaborative social media expert to join the social media strategy team in our CBC Entertainment division.
In this role, you will act as a strategic advisor, standards bearer, and key connector across our Entertainment teams.
Working with a high degree of independence, you will support the Senior Manager who is responsible for the CBC Entertainment social media strategy. Working collaboratively across many units in the division, you will suggest strategy, guidelines and best practices across social media teams, including CBC Gem, Arts, Life, Music, Books, Sports, Podcasts, Kids and other entertainment properties.
This role has an impact on ensuring our strategies and efforts will contribute to our goals and KPIs of reaching and engaging Canadian audiences, ensuring CBC99s relevance with new and existing audiences.
The successful candidate may also work on the department99s behalf to represent CBC during interactions with third-party social media companies and partners.
KEY TASKS
Support the Sr. Manager as a strategic advisor, offering specialized expertise regarding social media direction, creative production, brand personality, and community engagement for our various entertainment properties.
Perform routine audits of account health, strategic direction, and compliance to ensure the highest calibre of content, ideal distribution schedules, and rigorous alignment with digital accessibility requirements, including alt-text and captioning.
Analyze shifts in platform algorithms, providing practical guidance for the enhancement of our social media offerings.
Conduct thorough examinations of platform data and account metrics to provide detailed reports, strategic recommendations, and comparative performance analysis against industry peers.
Assist in the design, implementation, and oversight of unified strategic frameworks, specialized content calendars, and templates.
Assist in maintaining the Entertainment Social Media Portal, guaranteeing consistent round-the-clock availability of guidelines, best practices, assets, templates and many more resources.
Serve as a custodian for brand integrity, editorial excellence, and adherence to digital policies across our social ecosystem.
Coordinate cross-departmental communities of practice specifically focused on platform ecosystems (e.g., Meta, TikTok).
Conceptualize and deliver bespoke educational courses and skill-building modules for social media editors and digital producers across the corporation.
Cultivate and sustain collaborative partnerships among core digital units, marketing, communications, legal, and revenue-focused divisions.
In collaboration with Media Solutions, advise on the creation of impactful sales and sponsorship opportunities for our partners.
Act as a liaison for independent content creators, outside production houses, marketing agencies, platform partners, and SaaS technology providers.
THE CANDIDATE
Expert understanding of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter) alongside strong familiarity with industry-standard social listening and analytics tools.
A people leader with the ability to keep teams engaged.
Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Uses research and data to inform decisions and detect new opportunities; you can apply a data-centric approach to the testing and optimization of social content.
Stays on top of trends and platform developments.
Expert understanding and interest in Canadian media and streaming entertainment.
Knowledge and understanding of, and/or connection to, underrepresented communities across Canada.
BACKGROUND & SPECIFIC SKILLS
Minimum of 5+ years of experience managing high-volume, brand-level social media accounts (preferably within a broadcasting, entertainment, or digital media setting).
Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience excelling at working collaboratively across several teams.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Strong planning, analytical, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
Knowledge of how to create effective strategies and content to successfully reach and engage audiences on these platforms.
Expert understanding of social media analytics tools and how to use data to inform content decisions.
Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to create impactful meeting collateral, lead effective meetings and present to executives and teams.
Proven ability in spearheading educational seminars, designing comprehensive training modules, and overseeing diverse collaborative networks.
