Job Description

NSF is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Specialist, Internal Communications to help drive employee engagement, organizational alignment, and business growth through impactful internal communications. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, this role will develop and execute communication strategies that inform, inspire, and connect employees around NSF's mission, priorities, and culture.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional storyteller, strong project manager, and collaborative business partner who thrives in a fast-paced, global environment.

Responsibilities

Strategic Communications and Content Development
  • Develop, write, edit, and deliver high-quality internal communications, including executive emails, organizational announcements, leadership messaging, newsletters, presentations, and other employee-facing content.
  • Translate complex business topics into clear, compelling, and engaging communications tailored to diverse employee audiences.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and alignment of messaging across all internal communication channels.

Executive Communications and Employee Engagement
  • Support the planning and execution of leadership town halls, all-hands meetings, and other employee engagement events, including content development, messaging, presentation materials, and speaker preparation.
  • Partner with senior leaders and subject matter experts to communicate key business initiatives, organizational changes, and strategic priorities.
  • Drive communication campaigns from concept through execution, ensuring employees receive timely, relevant information through the most effective channels.

Stakeholder Partnership and Project Leadership
  • Serve as a strategic communications partner to leaders, functions, and teams across the organization, building trusted relationships and offering counsel on communication approaches and best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders throughout the content development lifecycle, from information gathering and drafting through reviews, approvals, and final publication.
  • Manage internal communication projects with strong attention to timelines, stakeholder alignment, and measurable outcomes.

Intranet and Channel Management
  • Oversee and guide a network of divisional and functional communications contributors responsible for creating and publishing content on NSF360.
  • Lead and support initiatives to enhance internal communication platforms, including serving as project lead for intranet migration and content transition efforts.
  • Evaluate channel effectiveness and recommend new approaches, tools, and technologies to improve employee engagement and communication outcomes.

Measurement and Continuous Improvement
  • Track and analyze communication metrics and employee engagement data to measure effectiveness and inform strategy.
  • Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in internal communications and employee engagement to continuously improve communications programs.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills, with a strong command of AP Style.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic communications that drive awareness, engagement, and organizational alignment.
  • Strong relationship-building and consulting skills, with experience partnering effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, deadlines, and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Business acumen and the ability to understand organizational priorities and translate them into effective communication strategies.
  • Experience using communication metrics and analytics to evaluate performance and optimize outcomes.
  • Understanding of external communications including media, public affairs and digital communication and storytelling.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, adapt quickly to changing business needs, and operate effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex information for broad audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across functions, cultures, and geographies.

Additional Requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to modeling NSF's core values and maintaining the highest ethical standards.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with a minimum of three days per week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) industry or a similarly complex, global organization.
  • Experience managing intranet platforms, content governance, or digital employee communication channels.
  • Experience supporting change management and organizational transformation communications.
