Position Summary

The Senior Specialist, Business Strategy is a high-impact senior strategic contributor responsible for translating enterprise priorities into actionable business strategies, transformation roadmaps, and value-driven initiatives across McKesson Canada's Pharmaceutical Distribution network.

Working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders, this role combines strategic thinking, analytical rigor, business case development, and change leadership to solve complex business challenges and enable sustainable growth. The successful candidate will help inform and shape strategic direction by identifying opportunities, developing evidence-based recommendations, and enabling informed decision-making.

Reporting into the Director of Business Strategy & Enablement, this role brings clarity to complex business challenges, aligns stakeholders around a common vision, and influences and enables the achievement of measurable business outcomes that support the long-term evolution of McKesson Canada's supply chain capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Transformation
  • Translate enterprise priorities into strategic plans, transformation roadmaps, and execution frameworks for review and endorsement by senior business leaders.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities that drive growth, operational excellence, customer value, and supply chain resilience.
  • Apply structured problem-solving and data-driven analysis to address complex business challenges.
  • Develop evidence-based strategic recommendations and future-state operating models aligned with business objectives to inform leadership decisions.

Business Case Development & Value Realization
  • Lead and coordinate the development of business cases, including financial analysis, ROI assessments, scenario modelling, and benefit realization plans.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to validate opportunities, evaluate opportunities, and inform investment recommendations and decisions.
  • Define success measures and track outcomes to ensure initiatives deliver intended value.
  • Monitor and report progress, risks, dependencies, and variances to support corrective action and benefit realization.

Executive Advisory & Strategic Communications
  • Develop executive presentations, business cases, briefing materials, and recommendations for leadership and governance forums.
  • Synthesize complex information into clear, concise insights that support decision-making.
  • Provide strategic analysis and recommendations to advance key business priorities.

Business Integration & Stakeholder Alignment
  • Facilitate workshops and planning sessions to build alignment, develop prioritization recommendations, and advance strategic discussions.
  • Collaborate across Operations, Supply Chain, Technology, Finance, Commercial, Project Delivery and Data Analytics teams.
  • Translate strategic objectives into actionable workstreams, milestones, and measurable outcomes.

Supply Chain Innovation & Change Enablement
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies and products, and regulatory developments impacting pharmaceutical distribution.
  • Evaluate innovative opportunities and develop recommendations intended to enhance network performance, operational efficiency, customer experience, and supply chain capabilities.
  • Support organizational readiness, adoption, and continuous improvement efforts for strategic initiatives and transformative programs.


Qualifications & Experience

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • MBA, Master's degree, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent designation is considered an asset.

Experience
  • 7 years of experience in strategy, management consulting, business transformation, corporate planning, supply chain, project management, or business operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives and developing business cases and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical distribution, logistics, retail, manufacturing, or other complex operational environments is preferred.

Technology & Digital Fluency
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Ability to leverage Microsoft Copilot, AI-enabled tools, and digital technologies to drive productivity and insight generation.
  • Experience with Power BI or other analytics and data visualization tools is considered an asset.
