Job Description
BCS Allegient has a contingent opening for a Senior Graphic Designer to support an upcoming contract with the Department of Energy.
Salary Range: $100K - $135K depending on experience.
Job Functions:
- Design technical infographics, data visualizations, diagrams, presentation graphics, fact sheets, executive materials, web graphics, and digital/print communications for a federal emerging building technologies program.
- Translate complex technical, scientific, engineering, energy, and building technology information into clear, accessible, visually engaging products.
- Support development of one-page infographics, four-page findings documents, executive summaries, webinar materials, briefing decks, newsletters, posters, brochures, website graphics, and stakeholder communications.
- Work with technical writers, federal program managers, subject matter experts, DOE National Laboratory personnel, communications staff, and dashboard/data personnel to convert technical findings into visual products.
- Design materials that explain what a technology is, why GSA is interested, how it was evaluated, what was learned, and whether further deployment is recommended.
- Ensure all visual products are appropriate for executive, technical, and non-technical audiences.
- Apply GSA branding, federal visual standards, plain-language principles, and accessibility requirements to all assigned products.
- Develop Section 508-compliant and WCAG-aligned digital and print materials, including accessible PDFs and graphics prepared for web publication.
- Support data visualization of measurement and verification findings, performance results, cost savings, energy efficiency impacts, deployment outcomes, KPIs, and program metrics.
- Prepare final production-ready files for digital publication, presentations, print distribution, and stakeholder engagement.
- Coordinate with technical writers and accessibility personnel to ensure final graphics, figures, tables, and layouts are accurate, readable, compliant, and publication-ready.
- Maintain consistency across templates, recurring deliverables, report formats, infographic styles, briefing materials, and outreach products
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, information design, data visualization, digital media, communications, web design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional graphic design, information design, data visualization, or visual communications experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience developing technical graphics, infographics, executive briefing materials, reports, web graphics, or digital/print communications for federal agencies, research organizations, engineering programs, energy programs, or science/technology-focused initiatives.
- Experience designing clear, accessible visual products that communicate complex technical, scientific, engineering, energy, or building technology information to executive, technical, and non-technical audiences.
- Experience developing Section 508-compliant and WCAG-aligned digital and print materials.
- Preferred experience supporting DOE, GSA, DOE National Laboratories, FEMP, federal energy programs, federal facilities, emerging building technologies, measurement and verification, Green Proving Ground, CEBT, or similar programs.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro.
- Experience developing accessible PDFs, technical infographics, data visualizations, presentation graphics, diagrams, fact sheets, posters, brochures, and web-ready graphics.
