Senior, Sourcing Strategy plays a critical role in shaping and executing the long-term sourcing strategy for Macy's Private Brands Apparel. As part of the Strategic Sourcing organization, this leader partners closely with Private Brand leadership, Merchandising, Product Development, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify and implement sourcing initiatives that drive profitable growth, speed to market, product quality, and competitive advantage.
Leveraging deep expertise across apparel categories including
knits, sweaters, wovens, denim, bottoms, dresses, and outerwear, this role develops category-specific sourcing strategies, evaluates global sourcing opportunities, and provides thought leadership on market dynamics, vendor capabilities, and evolving industry trends. The position is responsible for translating business objectives into multi-year sourcing strategies that optimize vendor portfolios, regional allocation, and sourcing diversification while supporting brand growth and product differentiation.
What You Will Do- Partner with the Director of Sourcing Strategy to develop and execute multi-year sourcing strategies for Macy's Private Brands apparel categories, aligning sourcing decisions with brand, customer, and financial objectives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert across apparel categories, providing strategic insights on sourcing capabilities, manufacturing trends, innovation, product complexity, and category-specific opportunities within knits, sweaters, wovens, denim, and adjacent classifications.
- Lead comprehensive analyses of global markets, vendor capabilities, geopolitical risks, capacity shifts, and competitive dynamics to identify opportunities that enhance margin, quality, speed, and supply chain resilience.
- Develop strategic recommendations regarding country sourcing mix, vendor portfolio optimization, supplier segmentation, and regional investment strategies to support sustainable growth.
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Product Development, Costing, Production, and Private Brand leadership teams to align sourcing strategies with seasonal product and business priorities.
- Evaluate category growth opportunities and sourcing scenarios by assessing demand patterns, product complexity, innovation needs, and supply market capabilities.
- Drive the development and maintenance of key strategic planning tools, including 3-5 Year Sourcing Plans, Annual Sourcing Strategies, vendor portfolio assessments, and category sourcing roadmaps.
- Present strategic insights, recommendations, and executive-level business cases to senior leadership to support critical sourcing and investment decisions.
- Monitor industry, consumer, and manufacturing trends to identify emerging sourcing opportunities, new capabilities, and competitive advantages for Macy's Private Brands.
- Partner with sourcing, costing, and business stakeholders to proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and advance initiatives that improve profitability, operational efficiency, and long-term supplier partnerships.
Skills You Will Need- Deep knowledge of global apparel sourcing and manufacturing with expertise across categories including knits, sweaters, wovens, denim, bottoms, dresses, and outerwear.
- Strong understanding of vendor capabilities, regional sourcing advantages, textile and product development processes, and apparel supply chain dynamics.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex market intelligence and data into actionable sourcing strategies.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership through data-driven recommendations and category expertise.
- Experience developing sourcing strategies, vendor portfolios, and long-range business plans within a retail, wholesale, or private brand environment.
