On the Membership Experience Engineering team at Walmart, we provide technology to power shopping journeys that help hundreds of millions of customers live better - be it busy families getting groceries easily, new parents welcoming a new baby, organizing a new home or anyone planning a fun party. We strive to create the best shopping experience anywhere, anytime, meeting customers' evolving needs and expectations.

Walmart+ is pioneering the way people experience online and in-store shopping. We are looking for an experienced engineer to help us design and improve customer membership experience and build a scalable platform.

About Team:
Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you'll do:
  • Help build the next generation of platform supporting Walmart plus, create applications that serve over 100 million customers, and build high-volume servers to support business.
  • Harness passion for technology and advanced-level knowledge, and help build highly-scalable performant solutions.
  • Make use of advanced-level knowledge of algorithms, Walmart's tech ecosystem, core computer science concepts and ability to apply knowledge to real world systems.
  • Without direct assistance, make the most of ability to recognize and match patterns from different areas of computer science in production systems and hone skill in making architectural decisions.
  • Employ deep knowledge across several of these areas: data processing, programming languages, databases, networking and operating systems.
  • Design and implement efficient monitoring systems for cloud services in a production environment.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on service operations and quality.
  • Develop tools and/or contribute to automation of repetitive tasks to improve productivity and reduce errors/incidents.
  • 5% travel to various unanticipated domestic/international locations
  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.
  • Troubleshoot production issues for BE services of W+ platform by reviewing, analyzing information impact, and work on the resolution.
  • Design, develop Open Observe (SQL like), Prometheus or similar telemetry dashboards to monitor the W+ platform
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features


What you'll bring:
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful microservices and stream processing services using Java 17/21, Spring Boot, Maven, and Tomcat 9.
  • Deep knowledge in using Java, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Expertise in creating and optimizing database schemas, utilizing best practices and software design patterns.
  • Writing comprehensive unit and functional test cases using JUnit and Mockito framework.
  • Experience in utilizing RDBMS, distributed, and in-memory cache for application development.
  • Knowledge in designing and developing ecommerce web-based applications and features such as profile membership, add to cart, shipping, payment, and order management.
  • Ability to implement event-driven architecture using Kafka streaming platform for application development.
  • Expertise at managing source code using Git and deploy applications using cloud services.
  • Deploy and manage containerized workloads in Kubernetes across public and private clouds in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Configure APM dashboards, set up alerting, and monitor applications using Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting distributed applications in production environments.
  • Working knowledge of private and public cloud technologies.
  • Being a team player, critical thinker, and exhibiting problem-solving skills
  • Having optimal time-management skills and interpersonal and communication skills

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
