The Bike Shop, an Engineering prototyping and fabrication department within theHardware Directorate of Raytheon, seeks a Software Engineer, in Tucson, AZ. The mission of the Bike Shop is to enable our program partners to successfully demonstrate solutions to their engineering problems by providing rapid, innovative engineering solutions, prototype fabrication, and test support throughout a programs development life cycle.
As a software engineer at the Bike Shop, this individual will contribute to fastpaced prototype development efforts, delivering highquality code under accelerated timelines. This role requires strong foundational software engineering skills, the ability to quickly learn new technologies, and comfort working in ambiguous, evolving problem spaces. Engineers will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to design, build, integrate, and test earlystage solutions that demonstrate new capabilities and derisk emerging concepts. A successful candidate is proactive, adaptable, and able to balance speed with technical rigor while maintaining disciplined engineering practices.
What You Will Do
Provide expertise in modern C/C++ development and handson experience across Linux, MATLAB, DevOps tooling, and Python.
Work closely with hardware and firmware engineers to work out technical challenges and deliver advanced capabilities.
Travel is sometimes required but likely no more than 10%.
This will be 100% onsite in Tucson, AZ.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience in Java, Python, or C/C++ programming languages.
Experience with real-time, platform, or low-level system development concepts.
Experience working within Agile software development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or similar).
Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance as and when required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Ethernet, IP/TCP/UDP, or network interface development.
Experience with embedded or low-level software development, including OS-adjacent or hardware-interfacing work.
Experience supporting HW/SW integration in lab environments.
Experience with National Instruments (NI) software suites.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to design initiatives, influence engineering decisions, and complex technical problems.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
