GRAIL offers a flexible work arrangement, with the ability to work from GRAIL's office or from home. Our current flexible work arrangement policy requires that a minimum of 60%, or 24 hours, of your total work week be on-site. Your specific schedule, determined in collaboration with your manager, will align with team and business needs and could exceed the 60% requirement for the site. At our new Sunnyvale campus, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the key days where we encourage on-site presence to engage in events and on-site activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications and backend services.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code primarily in Python and/or Go.
  • Collaborate with product managers, quality assurance partners, and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Support system reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Contribute to software architecture discussions, technical design, and implementation planning.
  • Work closely with team members in an agile development environment.
  • Evaluate and adopt technologies and tools that improve development efficiency and product delivery.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Demonstrate ownership, initiative, and a proactive approach to solving problems and delivering results.

These responsibilities summarize the role's primary responsibilities and are not an exhaustive list. They may change at the company's discretion.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience building and supporting software applications in a production environment.

  • Experience with version control systems and modern software development workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively across functions.
  • Self-motivation, initiative, and an eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with AWS cloud services.
  • Exposure to AI tools, automation tools, or AI-assisted software development workflows.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
