Full Job Description
Before the detail, here's the challenge you'd help us solve.

We build the embodied intelligence that moves real vehicles safely, and the ecosystem a billion machines will run on in the future. Very few people in AI can say this. Every role here, whatever the team, plugs into that.

Here's what this particular role covers.

About our ngineering Teams

Wayve's Robot Software group turns new vehicle programs into stable, reliable robot systems. The Platform Integration team works at the boundary between onboard software and vehicle hardware, bringing up new platforms while building reusable components and frameworks that make every future integration faster and more predictable.

As a Software Engineer on the Platform Integration team, you'll combine hands-on vehicle and bench work with production software development. Your work will directly enable safe, scalable deployment across multiple vehicle programs.

Your day-to-day
  • Support software bring-up on benches, HiL systems, and vehicles, including work at international test locations.
  • Develop and maintain vehicle-facing software components and shared frameworks.
  • Diagnose integration issues across software and hardware boundaries and drive them through resolution.
  • Identify architectural improvements that reduce bespoke work and improve reuse.
  • Build diagnostics, tooling, and metrics for robot-software reliability and performance.
  • Produce clear documentation and runbooks for long-term supportability.
  • Collaborate with hardware, safety, controls, calibration, and reliability teams.

What you'll be working on
  • New vehicle-program bring-up across embedded compute, sensors, networks, and software services.
  • Linux-based robotic and automotive systems with multi-process and distributed architectures.
  • ROS2 or similar middleware, node development, message interfaces, and system integration.
  • Sensor calibration, synchronisation, data validation, and system-level debugging.
  • Automotive-grade compute platforms such as NVIDIA DRIVE and Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride.
  • Vehicle communication systems including CAN and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Shared abstractions and frameworks that improve reliability across programs.

You should apply if
  • You have strong software-development experience in C++, Python, or Rust.
  • You have delivered production-quality software on Linux-based robotic, embedded, or automotive platforms.
  • You understand ROS2 or similar robotics middleware and distributed-system integration.
  • You have hands-on experience integrating software with vehicle or embedded hardware.
  • You can diagnose complex problems using logs, telemetry, on-target tests, and systematic experimentation.
  • You understand vehicle sensors, networking, and the practical realities of platform bring-up.

Experience with drive-by-wire systems, CAN tools, shared frameworks, HiL or simulation, functional safety, technical documentation, or observability would be valuable.

Not ticking every box? That's totally okay! If you're passionate about autonomy and keen to learn, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every requirement.

How we work - Locations & Flexible Working:

Our main hubs are in London, Sunnyvale, Yokohama, Herzliya, Vancouver and Leonberg. We operate a hybrid working model that combines in-person collaboration in our dedicated office spaces with focused time working remotely. This gives our teams the connection and energy of working together, alongside the flexibility to do their best work in a way that fits their lives.

The Interview Process:

Our process is clear and respectful of your time:
  • Initial recruiter screen - 25 mins
  • Competency Interviews - Programming and technical domain (2 hours)
  • Deep-dive technical interviews - Programming, software design, and hiring-manager/team fit (3 hours)
  • Final interview - Mission and values alignment (30 mins)

We'll always explain the format and work around your availability.

What's in it for you (Location dependent):

Salaries benchmarked against the market annually
Meaningful equity, sharing in the ownership and long term success of Wayve
Relocation support and visa sponsorship where applicable
• Hybrid working, core hours and the chance to work hands on in vehicle workshops and labs
Learning and development budgets with support for training, conferences and growth
Comprehensive benefits including health insurance, dental, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, retirement or pension where applicable, access to therapists, wellbeing partnerships, team socials and more

A quick, honest note before you apply.

Wayve is not a mature, fully-structured place with the playbook already written. Much of how we work is still being written, and if you join, you'll help write it. That suits people who want real ownership more than people who need a settled structure from day one.

If that sounds like the kind of problem you want to spend your time on, we'd really like to hear from you.
