Position OverviewAs a Senior Software Engineer within PNC's Retail Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Strongsville, OH, Dallas, TX, Denver, CO or Birmingham, AL.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building scalable, modern applications and services. You will work alongside experienced engineers, product managers, and architects to develop user-facing applications, APIs, and microservices that power critical business capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services.
• Contribute to the development of frontend applications using Angular and modern web technologies.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java and related frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver features.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices, coding standards, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues across the technology stack.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and automated tests to ensure software quality.
• Support application deployments and ongoing production maintenance.
• Learn and apply modern software development methodologies, tools, and technologies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
Qualifications
• Experience developing software applications using Java.
• Experience building or consuming RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming, and application design patterns.
• Familiarity with source control systems such as Git.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging software applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Experience with both frontend and backend development in a full-stack capacity.
• Experience developing web applications using Angular.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Pay TransparencyBase Salary: $86,250.00 – $158,125.00
Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
