About the team

With Roku providing millions of movies, episodes, news, and channels, the Content Management System plays a vital role in managing content ingestion, selection, enrichment, and curation. We are seeking engineers capable of developing, designing, and deploying highly scalable, reliable applications, tools, and automation frameworks to efficiently handle the vast volume of content in our pipeline.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer on Roku's streaming applications team, you will be a key contributor responsible for architecting, designing, and building high-impact streaming experiences across multiple connected TV platforms. You will drive technical excellence by leading architectural decisions and setting the strategic direction for frontend development across platforms, including Google/Android TV, Fire TV, and Samsung. This role requires close collaboration with product, UX, and engineering teams to define scope, make product decisions, and influence cross-team alignment. You will champion innovation and AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate development and elevate code quality. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in modern web frameworks, media playback technologies, and consumer application development at scale. For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $246,500 - $486,100 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.   • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Experience with media frameworks and streaming protocols, including HLS and MPEG-DASH, DRM, and media playback on HTML5, iOS, and Android platforms; familiarity with MSE/EME, ExoPlayer, Shaka Player, or Dash.js
