Full Job Description
What you will do:
  • Ship features end-to-end. Scope with product and design, build it, test it, review it, ship it, measure it.

  • Review code critically. Your own, your teammates’ and what your tools generate.

  • Identify areas to improve and scale our architecture.

  • Ensure proper technical design and documentation.

  • Work with the web platform to build tooling that makes the team faster.

  • Collaborate closely with product and design, you’ll have direct input on the features you build.

  • Move fast in an environment where requirements shift and the "right" answer isn't always obvious.

Your profile:
  • 4+ years shipping production web applications

  • Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Next.js

  • Fluency with modern AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, or equivalents)

  • A habit of testing what you write and reviewing what others (and tools) produce

  • Ability to take ambiguous requirements, scope them, and deliver.

  • Clear communication, you can explain a technical tradeoff to a PM with ease.  

Bonus if you have:
  • Experience across the stack (backend, CI, infrastructure)

  • Experience building for a two-sided marketplace

  • Experience in insurance, risk, or trust & safety

  • Previous startup experience

For this role, the target base salary range in San Francisco is $156,000–$195,000 annually. This role is also eligible for equity and benefits. In general, our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We encourage you to talk with your recruiter to learn more about the total compensation and benefits available for this role.

Turo highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Turists will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
