With a robust product roadmap and new opportunities on the horizon, we're looking for a Senior Engineer to help scale our platform and build new products. This role offers the chance to work closely with our Co-founders and senior engineers, contributing directly to the growth of the company as we move from Seed to Series A and beyond. For this role, we are hiring for candidates in Austin, TX, where our leadership and product team is located. Comp range listed is directional and adjustable +/- based on competency.

What you'll do- Design, build, and maintain critical user-facing products and backend systems that power our platform
- Contribute to and help evolve our core backend architecture, focusing on scalability and performance
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, and leadership to align technical solutions with business needs
- Drive best practices in software engineering, including code reviews, testing, and documentation
- Play a key role in shaping engineering culture, contributing to hiring efforts, and potentially mentoring or leading other engineers over time
What you'll need- 5+ years of experience in web development
- Strong backend development skills with a preference for full stack engineers
- Proven ability to create scalable performant solutions within aggressive deadlines
- Proven experience working in Ruby (or similar backend languages or willingness to learn), with the ability to ramp up quickly in our stack
- Comfortable working across the stack, with React/Next.js and TypeScript strongly preferred
- You are already running AI coding agents autonomously, including overnight, to ship. Daily Claude Code use is table stakes
- experience integrating with third-party APIs: OAuth flows, webhooks, rate limits, indempotency
- Track record of owning services in production. Comfortable with observability, on-call rotations, and debugging real incidents
- Experience with AWS, terraform and Infrastructure in general is a plus
- Strong communication skills - you're comfortable collaborating across teams and explaining technical concepts clearly
- A self-starter mentality with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, early-stage environment
- Empathy for our end users, including low-to-moderate-income renters, and a desire to build products that make a difference
