We9re building Chorus, a real-time document workspace where AI agents are actual collaborators: an agent gets a cursor in the doc, edits the same CRDT, and shows up in presence right next to you. We wrote it from scratch in Rust and TypeScript, we sync in under 50ms with hundreds of simultaneous editors on a single document, and it costs roughly a dollar per builder per year to run. It9s an exciting combination of greenfield work with a massive user base that provides immediate feedback when something doesn9t work.
We9re a small team with an unusually direct line from idea to thousands of builders using it. If you want to be one of maybe a dozen people in the world shipping production CRDT infrastructure that treats AI as a peer, this is the job.
Key job responsibilities
* Own end-to-end technical architecture for a service that is scaling from early customers to AWS-wide adoption
* Work directly with internal and eventually external customers to understand integration needs, set expectations, and turn real-time feedback into service direction
* Drive technical consensus across partner teams with competing priorities and constraints
* Make judgment calls on when to solve a problem scrappily for one customer and when to build the abstraction that serves many
* Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and design reviews
* Drive operational excellence: define monitoring and alarming standards, ensure production readiness for new features, and build a culture where the team can sustain what it ships
* You own a problem space end to end, identify the most salient problems now and deliver solutions quickly without sacrificing long-term scalability
* Inventive usage of LLMs in software development. You find ways to deliver code with agents at high speed, but without sacrificing the quality of the code or the software.
* Deep experience in Rust or systems-level TypeScript, or the track record to show you9ll get there fast. We care more about how you think about correctness under concurrency than which language you learned it in.
A day in the life
Your mornings are usually free for focus work - architecture, deep dives, and hard problems. Around 11 you9ll have standup, then grab lunch with the team (if you like) before the afternoon opens up for design reviews, CR feedback, or unblocking an engineer. Some days you9re deep in code; others you9re on a call with a customer team working through how their system integrates with yours. You9re the person who knows the system most deeply - and you work to ensure you9re never the bottleneck. The problems are hard and the stakes are high - but we believe we can move fast, do exceptional work, and have a full life outside of it.
We9re a small team building two greenfield projects within Agentic WorkSpaces. We9re moving fast enough that our team name is still taking shape - but our engineering culture is well established.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor9s degree in computer science or equivalent
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
