Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the frontend architecture and rendering system design for a large-scale, real-time collaborative whiteboard.
  • Define and enforce performance standards for frame rate, memory efficiency, and latency under multi-user concurrency.
  • Design distributed state management frameworks leveraging CRDTs, OT, and hybrid conflict-resolution strategies.
  • Conduct in-depth performance investigations using browser profiling tools and low-level trace analysis.
  • Drive architectural reviews, ensuring consistency, modularity, and scalability across all whiteboard subsystems.
  • Mentor engineers in advanced rendering, concurrency control, and state synchronization techniques.
  • Collaborate with backend, design, and PM partners to translate complex technical constraints into product decisions.

What we're looking for:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, a related field, or a foreign degree equivalent. Must have 7 years of experience in job offered or related occupation. Must have 7 years of experience in each of the following:

  • 7 years of experience with expert-level proficiency with Chrome DevTools (Performance, Memory, Network, Rendering, Long Tasks, and CPU profiling) for driving deep performance investigations of complex React and Canvas-based applications, translating profiling data into systemic, long-term optimizations;
  • 7 years of experience utilizing Canvas, WebGL, or GPU-based rendering systems rendering to efficiently render, update, and animate large numbers of whiteboard objects in real time, while ensuring high performance, low latency, and smooth user interactions;
  • 7 years of experience utilizing hybrid text rendering pipelines combining DOM-based editors (e.g., Quill.js) with GPU-accelerated Canvas rendering using CanvasKit or Skia to support rich text editing while enabling high-performance rendering;
  • 7 years of strong hands-on experience in client–WebView communication using JavaScript bridges, enabling reliable message passing between native clients and embedded web applications, including event handling, data exchange, and lifecycle coordination;
  • 7 years of experience utilizing hybrid client architectures involving WebView–native communication, including message routing, data serialization through JSBridge interfaces;
  • 7 years of experience with profiling and optimizing rendering performance using Chrome DevTools including Flame charts, Heap snapshot, FPS meter etc.;
  • 7 years of experience with designing large-scale, distributed UI systems with strict performance and memory requirements
  • Telecommuting Work arrangement permitted: position may work in various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S. Position does not require domestic or international travel.

Salary Range or On Target Earnings:

Minimum:

$255,653.00

Maximum:

$271,200.00

In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.

Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.

We also have a location based compensation structure;  there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations.
