Job DescriptionThe Senior Software Developer - Robotics Process Automation will be a key technical contributor responsible for designing, developing, and implementing enterprise-scale automation solutions using Pega Robotics. This role combines advanced software development skills with deep expertise in process automation to drive operational efficiency across Royal Bank of Canada. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with business teams, architects, infrastructure teams, and other developers to transform manual, repetitive processes into intelligent, automated workflows that reduce costs and improve service delivery.
This position requires a technically proficient developer with strong problem-solving abilities, experience in modern development practices, infrastructure knowledge, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, maintainable code. The role offers significant opportunities to influence RBC's digital transformation initiatives and leverage emerging AI technologies to enhance automation capabilities.
What will you do?- Design, develop, and maintain Pega Robotics solutions to automate business processes across the organization
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing RPA processes to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Collaborate with business analysts, process owners, stakeholders, and infrastructure teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical RPA solutions
- Design and develop RESTful APIs using Java or ASP.NET to facilitate system integrations and enable seamless data exchange
- Configure, deploy, and manage applications on Internet Information Services (IIS) servers, ensuring optimal performance and availability
- Troubleshoot and resolve IIS server issues, including application pool management, certificate configuration, and performance optimization
- Develop backend solutions and integrations using Java, C#, and ASP.NET as needed
- Explore and evaluate emerging AI technologies and tools that could enhance automation capabilities, improve process efficiency, or reduce manual intervention
What do you need to succeed ? Must have: - 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Proven expertise with Pega Robotics or similar RPA platforms
- Proficiency in Java and C# programming languages or similar object-oriented languages
- Demonstrated experience with API development using Java or ASP.NET
- Hands-on experience with Internet Information Services (IIS) server configuration, deployment, and management
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with RBC enterprise systems or financial services platforms
- Pega Platform certifications (Robotics Developer, System Architect, or equivalent)
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and code generation platforms
- Understanding of intelligent process automation and AI integration with RPA platforms
