Job Summary

The Senior SharePoint Architect/Developer is responsible for the architecture, design, development, governance, administration, and continuous improvement of enterprise collaboration and business productivity platforms. The primary focus includes SharePoint Online, Project Server/Project Online, Microsoft Power Platform, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and related Microsoft 365 services.

This role designs secure, scalable, supportable, and compliant collaboration solutions that meet business, operational, and regulatory requirements. The position works closely with business stakeholders, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Identity, Compliance, Records Management, and other technology teams to deliver modern collaboration capabilities within a regulated energy environment.

The Senior SharePoint Architect/Developer will independently manage complex architecture and development initiatives, provide senior-level technical guidance, serve as an escalation point for complex platform issues, and help mature governance models, technical standards, development frameworks, lifecycle practices, and operational support processes.

Key Responsibilities

SharePoint & Project Platform Architecture

  1. Lead the architecture, design, configuration, administration, and continuous improvement of SharePoint Online and Project Server/Project Online solutions.
  2. Design secure and scalable site and information architectures, including hub sites, metadata models, content types, document libraries, lists, permission models, search experiences, project sites, templates, workflows, and reporting structures.
  3. Partner with business teams to gather requirements, assess business processes, and deliver collaboration and project-management solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
  4. Modernize legacy SharePoint sites, workflows, InfoPath forms, SharePoint Designer customizations, file shares, and unsupported solutions using modern Microsoft 365 capabilities.
  5. Maintain platform architecture standards, technical design documentation, implementation patterns, support models, and operational guardrails.
  6. Troubleshoot advanced SharePoint and Project platform issues involving permissions, workflows, forms, search, lists, libraries, web parts, customizations, access, and integrations.

Power Platform Governance & Development

  1. Lead and mature governance for Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, connectors, environments, data policies, security, lifecycle practices, and support models.
  2. Establish frameworks, standards, best practices, naming conventions, environment strategies, DLP policies, connector policies, deployment patterns, and operational guardrails.
  3. Design, develop, enhance, and support Power Apps and Power Automate solutions for business-critical and operationally significant processes.
  4. Establish lifecycle-management practices covering intake, requirements, design reviews, development, testing, deployment, documentation, monitoring, support, ownership reviews, and retirement.
  5. Partner with business users, citizen developers, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Data Governance, and technology teams to promote responsible Power Platform adoption.

SharePoint Framework (SPFx) Development

  1. Lead the design, development, deployment, governance, and support of SharePoint Framework custom web parts, extensions, and related SharePoint Online customizations.
  2. Establish and mature SDLC practices for SPFx development, including requirements, solution design, coding standards, source control, peer reviews, testing, packaging, deployment, documentation, release management, and support.
  3. Develop modern SharePoint components using technologies such as SPFx, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, Visual Studio Code, Git, and Azure DevOps or comparable tools.
  4. Ensure custom solutions meet requirements for security, governance, compliance, performance, accessibility, and long-term maintainability.
  5. Microsoft 365 Administration & Governance


  1. Administer and support Microsoft 365 collaboration services, including SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Power Platform, Microsoft Whiteboard, and related services.
  2. Configure and support Teams policies, SharePoint sharing settings, OneDrive policies, external sharing controls, guest access, retention settings, collaboration governance, and service configurations.
  3. Serve as a senior escalation point for complex platform incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, coordinate remediation, and drive corrective actions.
  4. Monitor Microsoft 365 roadmap and Message Center changes, assess business impact, and coordinate change planning, testing, documentation, and stakeholder communications.
  5. Support Microsoft 365 adoption, usage, performance, compliance, service health, and governance reporting.
  6. Support vendor health assessments, vendor support cases, maintenance notifications, and platform services.

Security, Compliance, Automation & Integration

  1. Design and maintain secure collaboration environments through permissions management, sharing controls, monitoring, auditing, classification, retention, and governance practices.
  2. Coordinate with Cybersecurity and Compliance teams on data protection, Microsoft Purview policies, DLP configurations, external sharing, audit requests, evidence collection, and control validation.
  3. Support secure Microsoft 365 configurations, including environments aligned with FedRAMP or similar compliance expectations.
  4. Use PowerShell and other automation tools to administer, configure, monitor, report on, and maintain Microsoft 365 collaboration services.
  5. Develop scripts and automation to improve provisioning, permissions management, auditing, reporting, migrations, documentation, and operational efficiency.
  6. Integrate SharePoint Online, Power Platform, Project Server/Project Online, Teams, OneDrive, Microsoft Graph, Azure services, APIs, and appropriate third-party tools.


AI & Emerging Technology Support

  1. Support the evaluation, administration, configuration, governance, and proof-of-concept development of emerging enterprise AI and productivity platforms.
  2. Assist with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, AI governance, user adoption, and AI-enabled productivity initiatives as organizational needs evolve.
  3. Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Compliance, Data Governance, and business stakeholders to ensure AI-enabled solutions meet appropriate security, data-protection, compliance, and operational-support requirements.


Documentation, Training & Technical Leadership

  1. Develop and maintain architecture and design documentation, technical standards, migration approaches, operational guardrails, service improvement plans, knowledge articles, runbooks, and support documentation.
  2. Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer, mentoring, and task guidance to teammates, support teams, business users, and operational partners.
  3. Assist in training technical and non-technical personnel on collaboration tools, governance practices, platform capabilities, and custom solutions.
  4. Coordinate related technical work without direct supervisory responsibility.
  5. Support organizational change-management initiatives and promote effective adoption of Microsoft 365 services aligned with business objectives.


Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.
  2. An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
  3. 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in collaboration platform administration, architecture, development, or related Microsoft 365 technology roles.
  4. Senior-level experience with SharePoint Online architecture, administration, development, deployment, migration, governance, and support.
  5. Experience with Project Server and/or Project Online architecture, configuration, administration, support, or integration.
  6. Experience designing SharePoint site and information architecture, permissions models, metadata structures, document-management solutions, search experiences, lists, libraries, workflows, and customizations.
  7. Experience developing modern SharePoint Online solutions using SPFx, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, or related technologies.
  8. Experience working within or establishing formal SDLC processes for custom Microsoft 365 or SharePoint development.
  9. Experience developing and supporting Power Apps and Power Automate solutions for business-process automation.
  10. Experience with Power Platform governance, including environment strategy, connector policies, DLP policies, security roles, lifecycle management, deployment practices, ownership models, and support processes.
  11. Experience deploying, administering, or supporting Microsoft Teams and OneDrive in enterprise environments.
  12. Experience administering Microsoft 365/Office 365 environments with more than 1,000 users.
  13. Strong practical experience using PowerShell for Microsoft 365 administration, automation, reporting, and troubleshooting.
  14. Experience with Microsoft 365 migration tools and large-volume data migrations to cloud collaboration platforms.
