Full Job Description
What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable software systems that strengthen security capabilities across Bumble's products, platforms, and enterprise environments.
  • Develop high-quality services, APIs, automation, and security tooling that enable Product Security, Security Engineering, and Platform Defense teams to operate effectively at scale.
  • Build and optimize security data pipelines that collect, enrich, process, and surface actionable security telemetry from a variety of sources.
  • Create observability capabilities that improve visibility into security posture, application security, infrastructure security, platform health, and operational risk.
  • Partner closely with software engineering, infrastructure, platform, Trust & Safety, and security teams to embed secure-by-design principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive engineering excellence through thoughtful architecture, code quality, testing, automation, reliability, and operational best practices.
  • Develop scalable solutions that reduce manual effort, improve detection and response capabilities, and enable security teams to make faster, more informed decisions.
  • Leverage AI tools and techniques to improve engineering productivity, accelerate analysis, enhance automation, and strengthen security outcomes while ensuring responsible, transparent, and inclusive use of AI.

About You

  • Strong software engineering experience building distributed systems, services, APIs, platforms, or backend applications in production environments.
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions using modern engineering practices.
  • Experience building and operating data pipelines, telemetry platforms, event-driven systems, or large-scale data processing solutions.
  • Strong understanding of observability practices, including monitoring, logging, metrics, alerting, diagnostics, and operational visibility.
  • Experience working with cloud-native architectures, platform services, automation frameworks, and modern software delivery practices.
  • Knowledge of application security, platform security, security monitoring, detection engineering, vulnerability management, or security engineering practices.
  • Ability to independently solve complex technical challenges, evaluate trade-offs, and influence technical direction across teams and domains.
  • Strong collaboration skills with a track record of partnering effectively across engineering, security, and business functions to drive measurable outcomes.
  • Experience leveraging AI-powered engineering tools to improve development workflows, code quality, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational efficiency while applying sound human judgment to outputs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, curiosity, and delivering high-quality outcomes that create lasting impact.
  • Trust & Safety experience or experience supporting user safety, abuse prevention, fraud prevention, or risk mitigation initiatives is a plus.
  • Typically requires 6-8 years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills.


Location

  • This role is based in Austin and we ask that you're within a commutable distance to this office, so that you're able to come onsite regularly to collaborate across engineering teams.

$190,000 - $215,000 a year

For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function, level, and geographic location. This position is also typically eligible to participate in our short- and long-term incentive programs. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) match, Unlimited Paid Time Off Policy.

Final Compensation

Will be determined based on factors such as the selected candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, skill set, and other job-related considerations.
