Job DescriptionSenior Security Manager, Global Security and Safety GSS, Armed Guard Manager provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and risk mitigation management for Visas premier corporate facilities. Reporting directly to the Visa Security Director of Foster Washington DC, this senior leader is responsible for commanding a specialized, multi site security operation. The candidate will directly manage a team of five security direct reports distributed across three critical regions, Foster City, California, Mission Rock, San Francisco, California, and Highlands Ranch, Douglas County, Colorado.
The Senior Security Manager will orchestrate comprehensive protective strategies at Visas Main Entry Points, including high profile lobbies and specialized access control points on dedicated Visa office floors. Alignment with Visas Global Security and Safety strategy is paramount; the candidate will work closely with regional teams to ensure flawless planning, standardized operational execution, and consistent regulatory compliance across all assigned jurisdictions.
Essential Functions.
- Strategic Protection Oversight. Lead, develop, and execute multi site physical protection strategies to safeguard employees, executives, and visitors across Foster City, Mission Rock, and Highlands Ranch facilities.
- Team Leadership and Management. Directly manage, mentor, and evaluate a team of five security direct reports, ensuring operational readiness, optimized staffing models, and high performance across all assigned regional posts.
- Advanced Risk Assessment. Orchestrate comprehensive advance work and threat vulnerability assessments for high-profile corporate events, executive meetings, and venues, strategically deploying manpower and equipment resources.
- Crisis Management Command. Serve as the primary security authority to direct, lead, and coordinate Visa personnel and direct reports during emergency incidents, critical events, or localized crises.
- Program Training and Readiness. Implement, and oversee continuous, specialized training programs for GSS team members to maintain peak tactical, operational, and medical competency.
- Executive and VIP Protection. Oversee and manage specialized security protocols for high-profile VIP guests, coordinating close protection logistics, internal hospitality routing, and secure transit networks.
- Multi-Jurisdictional Firearm Compliance. Maintain eligibility to obtain and hold a valid Concealed Carry Weapon CCW permit for San Francisco, Mission Rock, California, and ensure team compliance with all local armed-guard statutes across both California and Colorado.
- Operational Availability. Maintain flexible availability to command operations, support direct reports, and respond to critical incidents during nights, weekends, and extended hours as operationally required.
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
- 12 plus years of work experience with a bachelors degree
- Extensive Leadership Experience. Minimum of twelve years of law enforcement, or select military roles with an honorable discharge, and or corporate security experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or people management role overseeing security personnel.
- Tactical and Emergency Preparedness. Possesses certified Law Enforcement Armed training and advanced experience in medical response, First Aid, CPR, AED, corporate investigations, and incident command structures.
- Multi Site Security Management. Proven track record of managing physical security, threat mitigation, and complex risk environments across multiple corporate or regional locations experience in California and Colorado preferred.
- Advanced Risk Mitigation. Demonstrated professional mastery in physical security infrastructure management, comprehensive risk assessments, and the execution of tactical mitigation measures.
- Multi Jurisdictional Armed Licensing. Eligible to obtain and maintain relevant Armed Guard licensing across all assigned jurisdictions, including San Francisco, Mission Rock, California, and Colorado locations.
- Command and Communication Technology. Operational mastery and fluent utilization of modern security technologies, enterprise platforms, communication tools, and tracking devices, PC, tablet, smartphone, smartwatch, radio, satellite, etc..
- Mobility Requirements. Must maintain a valid, up to date drivers license and an active passport for regional travel.
- Executive Liaison and Presence. Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to confidently interact with, brief, and advise senior corporate management and executive leadership.
- Strategic People Leadership. Be a poised, collaborative leader capable of inspiring and managing a distributed, multi location team while gaining cross functional support across all levels of the organization.
- Organizational Agility. Excellent project management and follow-up skills with a sharp attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the adaptability to balance daily operations with emergency response.
- Distributed Team Excellence. Proven ability to work independently and drive measurable results within a complex, multi state corporate environment utilizing a matrixed team structure.
- Active Law Enforcement Certification. Must be in active possession of a valid, up to date Federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, LEOSA HR218 certification.
- Technical Proficiency. High proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suites, SharePoint, and enterprise level physical security management software.
U.S. Applicants OnlyThe estimated salary range for this position is $161,600.00 to $ 258,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
