About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Secured Lending Underwriter to join and support our Inventory Finance team. In this role, the individual will be responsible for underwriting and managing floor plan financing transactions, conducting detailed credit analysis, assessing collateral quality, and evaluating overall borrower risk. The underwriter will work closely with relationship managers, credit partners, and clients to structure sound lending solutions while ensuring adherence to the bank's risk management and regulatory standards.
In this role, you will:
- Participate in underwriting and loan closing of transactions
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within scope of responsibilities for Secured Lending Underwriting functional area
- Review and analyze basic business challenges within Secured Lending Underwriting functional area that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives
- Exercise independent judgement to guide medium risk deliverables
- Present recommendations for resolving more complex situations and exercise independent judgement while developing expertise in Secured Lending Underwriting functional area, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
- Collaborate and consult with Secured Lending Underwriting colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders, including internal and external customers
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of secured lending underwriting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Commercial credit underwriting experience with a focus on secured lending, asset-based lending, inventory finance, floor plan financing, or specialty finance products.
- Strong understanding of commercial credit analysis, including financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment, collateral evaluation, and risk identification.
- Experience underwriting and structuring complex lending transactions for middle market, commercial, or corporate clients.
- Knowledge of inventory-based lending structures, collateral monitoring practices, borrowing base concepts, and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) requirements.
- Proven ability to assess industry, market, and borrower risk; develop credit recommendations; and present findings to credit approval authorities.
- Excellent relationship management, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across business development, risk, legal, and operations teams.
- Proficiency in analyzing financial trends, identifying emerging risks, and making sound credit decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with wholesale distribution, automotive, agriculture, construction equipment, powersports, recreational vehicle, or other dealer finance portfolios preferred.

Salary is just one component of Wells Fargo's total rewards package. Depending on the role, a Wells Fargo's employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
