The Role

To lead New Project Generation & External Opportunities activities in Japan, under alignment with Head of New Project Generation & External Opportunities (NPG&EO)

Responsibilities
  • Co-work with Cross-divisional team including Development and commercial toward DC proposal.
  • Organize and facilitate cross-divisional workshops with head of NPG&EO.
  • Make pre-DC study plan with GT-Engineering scientists and perform or facilitate feasibility studies.
  • Evaluate external opportunities introduced by Business development and make decision toward next step under alignment with internal stakeholders.
  • Establish the way to search for gene therapy innovation with Digital X etc., and 1) seek for potential collaboration with key players or 2) generate new research proposal by referring these innovative information and achieve pre-DC approval.


Required Qualifications
  • PhD level scientist with 7+, MS with 10+ years' experience
  • Deep knowledge on molecular biology and drug discovery and development
  • Experience on the research for drug candidate creation especially for new modalities
  • Experience on collaboration with external partners

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience on Adeno-Associated Virus gene therapy
  • Knowledge and experience on in vitro and in vivo models, especially either in CNS, skeletal/cardiac muscle, ophthalmology or oncology research

Working Environment
  • This position is based in South San Francisco, CA or Tsukuba, Japan research centers and will require on-site work.


Salary Range: $119,000 - $170,000 (NOTE: Final salary could be more or less, based on experience)
