Senior Risk Consultant

Remote - USA

Provides loss control support for Property & Casualty underwriters and insurance customers in AXA XL's Americas - Environmental unit.

What you'll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?
  • Provides underwriting and loss control support for assigned US-based accounts with focus on general liability and auto liability for environmental, health and safety consultants and industrial contractors, including waste management and transportation companies.
  • Conducts property & casualty risk assessments and loss prevention studies (in-person and via telephone) and provides consulting services/training.
  • Prepares risk assessment survey reports with customer loss control recommendations primarily for auto liability, general liability and workers compensation exposures. Risk assessment of professional, pollution and property liabilities are secondary, but may be included.
  • Serves as a loss control account manager and routinely interfaces with underwriters to provide technical support on new and renewal accounts including marketing/sales efforts as requested.
  • Prepares task orders and project management of third-party consultants providing risk assessment surveys and loss control services.
  • Develops working relationships with customer risk management, transportation, and safety personnel.
  • Prepares risk analysis and claims analysis documents.
  • Prepares and reviews customer risk management, safety, and loss preventions programs.
  • Prepares technical risk bulletins, whitepapers, and articles as requested.
  • Develops new and innovative customer loss control and training services.
  • Works with outside consultants and AXA XL Ecosystem technology partners to facilitate customer services.
  • Supports manager in quality, efficiency, technical and special projects as requested.

You will report to Vice President - Risk Consulting, Environmental.

What you will BRING

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
  • Ability to serve as a multi-disciplined loss control account manager, suggest value-added loss prevention services for customers, and work independently and/or collaborate as needed


  • BS Engineering or Science discipline and extensive experience in insurance loss control including moderate experience in performing multi-line loss control surveys/risk assessments


  • MS Engineering or Science discipline with moderate to extensive experience in insurance loss control including moderate experience in performing multi-line loss control surveys/risk assessments


  • Knowledge of insurance coverages: General Liability, Commercial Auto, and Workers Compensation. Knowledge of Property, Pollution, and Professional insurance coverage desirable.


  • Experience working for or with EHS consultants and industrial contractors desirable


  • Professional certifications desirable: CIH, CSP, CHMM, ARM


  • Experience in performing environmental, health and safety audits and training desirable


  • Knowledge of OSHA, USDOT, and USEPA statutes and regulations


  • Knowledge of industry standards such as NFPA, ASTM, ANSI, ISO


  • Knowledge and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and engineering controls


  • Microsoft Office knowledge - Word, Excel, PowerPoint


The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 109,600-191,700
