The Risk Management team is seeking an individual with an outgoing personality that enjoys building unified relationships, creating impactful solutions and thrives on continuous learning. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to partner with numerous stakeholders across the business to 'connect-the-dots' to solve problems and provide solutions to Senior Leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of your role is to assist in the development and management of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) tools, policies, processes to analyze, monitor and report on enterprise risks, according to Hydro's ERM framework. Your role will involve a high level of stakeholder management to coordinate the sharing of risk intelligence across the company. In your role you will establish effective working relationships with employees across all Hydro lines of business. Reporting produced by the Risk Management Team is to be suitable for a broad range of diverse users ranging from operational management to the Board of Directors.

In your role you will also provide independent risk oversight of energy trading activities, as the 'Middle Office' function serving the Energy Marketing (EM) line of business in connection with the export of electricity. The purpose of Middle Office is to monitor trading activity and market positions, both physical and financial, for compliance within approved risk frameworks. As the business grows and the risk profile evolves, your position will play a key role in advancing EM's risk management framework by recommending and developing new approaches, procedures and tools for the measurement and oversight of key operational and financial risks.

You will provide direct support to the Lead, Financial & Enterprise Risk Management, in carrying out the above planned activities within the Financial Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks for Hydro.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships with members of various teams;
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
What You'll Need:
A university degree in business administration, engineering, economics or a related field. Training in Enterprise Risk Management and/or the completion of risk management designation would also be an asset. Ideally, you have 5-7 years' experience in enterprise and/or financial risk management. Experience in internal audit is also considered an asset.

Some of the experiences below are not required, but would be considered an asset:
  • Experience in facilitating risk assessments or risk committees
  • Experience in developing reports and presenting to a broad range of end users, ranging from technical experts, executive team members or Board of Directors.
  • Experience in project and/or stakeholder management.
  • Experience in running queries in excel or database applications, and/or working with financial or other data related models.
