Full Job Description
As Marqeta's Credit Risk Senior Analyst, you will lead our underwriting strategy helping us to launch successful credit programs. You will drive innovation to establish best in class credit strategies and underwriting models. You will work closely with internal stakeholders including Banking, Product, Finance, and Data while partnering and building strong relationships with external bank partners and customers.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely in the United States, only in one of our National locations, which you can review here.

The Impact You'll Have
  • Evaluate and refine credit policies and models for both consumer and SMB credit cards to minimize losses and enhance profitability.
  • Develop and implement tailored, data-driven strategies for effective management of the consumer and SMB credit card portfolios.
  • Conduct risk segmentation, behavioral, loss forecasting, line management and other empirical analyses to support and refine credit models used in underwriting practices for consumer and SMB credit card portfolios.
  • Build dashboards and present regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) specific to consumer and SMB credit cards to senior management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements affecting both consumer and SMB credit card products.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or another quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a financial institution with a focus on credit risk analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience with statistical modeling, including machine learning techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve white space problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently on complex projects.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience in presenting and explaining complex data to senior leadership.
  • Innate curiosity to dive into a problem with minimal instruction to discover what the issue might be.

Nice-to-Haves:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python and R for data analysis and modeling.
  • Direct experience in managing consumer and SMB credit card portfolios.
  • Experience with automated decision engines
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards specific to the credit card industry.

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:
  • National: $99,000 - $123,800
  • Premium: $107,200 - $134,000
  • Premium Plus: $116,600 - $145,700
