About the RoleThe Senior Revenue Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and scalable revenue recognition across the organization in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This role serves as a subject-matter expert on ASC 606, owns key elements of the revenue close, and partners cross-functionally across Finance, FP&A, Billing, Legal, and Business Systems to improve execution across the quote-to-cash lifecycle.
This position requires strong technical accounting judgment, comfort operating in a fast-paced and evolving environment, and the ability to translate complex contract and billing scenarios into clear, executable revenue outcomes. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, escalates thoughtfully, and helps convert one-off decisions into repeatable processes.
What You'll Do - Own and execute revenue recognition activities in accordance with ASC 606, including review and assessment of complex customer contracts, SOWs, amendments, and non-standard deal structures
- Perform and oversee monthly revenue close activities, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses
- Serve as a primary point of escalation for revenue-related judgment calls, including non-standard billing arrangements, contract modifications, and complex credits or corrections, providing clear, well-reasoned recommendations grounded in policy
- Partner closely with Billing to ensure alignment between invoicing and revenue recognition, identifying and resolving discrepancies early rather than downstream
- Lead monthly analytical reviews, identifying revenue trends, anomalies, and risks, and clearly communicating root causes and recommended actions to stakeholders
- Collaborate with FP&A to improve revenue forecasting accuracy and explain variances between actuals, forecasts, and prior periods
- Partner with Business Systems on revenue-impacting system changes, enhancements, and implementations, with a focus on reducing manual workarounds over time
- Drive continuous improvement across revenue accounting processes, including documentation, standardization, and automation initiatives
- Maintain and enhance revenue accounting policies, templates, and playbooks to support scalability, audit readiness, and consistent judgment
- Support external audits by owning revenue-related audit areas, preparing schedules, and responding to auditor inquiries with clear, well-documented support
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting team members by modeling strong judgment, documentation, and escalation practices
- Contribute to special projects related to systems, process optimization, or accounting policy as the business evolves
What You'll Bring - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5-7+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, technical accounting, or a closely related role
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of ASC 606, with demonstrated ability to apply guidance to complex, real-world scenarios
- Clear understanding of point-in-time versus over-time revenue recognition patterns and how contract terms affect revenue timing
- Experience in a high-growth, complex, or evolving environment preferred
- Working experience with ERP and billing systems; familiarity with Sage Intacct and/or BillingPlatform is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, manage competing priorities during close cycles, and exercise sound accounting judgment without over-escalation
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to distill complex data and scenarios into clear, actionable conclusions
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills, including comfort partnering with non-accounting stakeholders
- Process-oriented mindset with a track record of documenting decisions, improving workflows, and reducing recurring issues over time
The expected base salary range for this position is $86,000 - $105,000 annually.
