Job Description

RESPEC is seeking an experienced Senior Resource Geologist to join our Mining & Energy team. While preference will be given to candidates based in, or willing to work from Reno, Nevada, we encourage qualified applicants in Vancouver, BC and Saskatoon, SK to apply.

This role supports precious metal, base metal, and aggregate projects throughout North and South America and offers the opportunity to work alongside internationally recognized geologists and engineers on a wide range of exploration, development, and operating mining projects. Based in Reno, Nevada, this position will collaborate closely with technical teams across North America while contributing to complex and impactful mining initiatives.

The Senior Resource Geologist will be responsible for developing and validating geological and block models, preparing mineral resource estimates, and supporting technical reporting in accordance with industry standards, including NI 43-101 and SK-1300. The role involves evaluating geological, drilling, sampling, and assay data; performing QA/QC reviews and model reconciliation; and partnering with geology, mine planning, operations, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose resource models that support critical business decisions throughout the life of a mine.

In addition to providing technical leadership on consulting projects, the successful candidate will mentor and support the development of junior geologists, contribute to continuous improvement of resource estimation practices, and help maintain RESPEC's reputation for technical excellence. The position also offers opportunities to support business development efforts by building client relationships, identifying growth opportunities, representing RESPEC at industry conferences and professional events, and contributing to recruiting, training, and team development initiatives.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in geology, geostatistics, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of mine geology experience within an operating environment
  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience in resource modelling and domain estimation
  • 10+ years of total experience in geology, with a strong focus on resource work
  • Professional designation such as Professional Geologist (P.G) or P.Geo. (Canada) and/or CPG (AIPG)
  • Strong background in resource estimation, block modelling, and geological interpretation
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record; position requires operating a company or personal vehicle during work hours for business-related travel

Preferred:
  • Advanced proficiency in Surpac, MinePlan, Leapfrog or similar 3D modelling software
  • Candidates without advanced degrees are still encouraged if they can demonstrate a strong portfolio of modelling and estimation experience


Additional Information

Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise. The typical salary range for this position is $125,000 to 155,000. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe-benefits package. RESPEC is a 100% employee-owned company and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
