SUMMARYThe Senior Resident Engineer (SRE) serves as the on-site leader responsible for the day-to-day oversight, coordination, and delivery of a large-scale airport parking garage project. This role acts as the Owner's primary field representative, ensuring that construction activities are executed in accordance with contract requirements, design intent, safety standards, and program objectives.
The SRE will work closely with the Owner, contractors, designers, airport operations, and stakeholders to successfully deliver a complex, multi-level parking structure in an active airport environment with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Project Leadership & Field Oversight- Serve as the Owner's on-site representative with full authority over field coordination and issue resolution
- Lead daily construction oversight activities, including site walks, inspections, and contractor coordination
- Monitor contractor performance for compliance with contract documents, specifications, and quality standards
- Ensure adherence to schedule milestones and proactively identify risks to project delivery
Construction Management & Coordination- Coordinate closely with the General Contractor, subcontractors, and design team to resolve field issues in real time
- Lead and facilitate daily briefings, weekly progress meetings, and coordination sessions
- Oversee implementation of phasing plans to maintain airport operations, including traffic flow and parking availability
- Interface with airport stakeholders to manage impacts to passengers, tenants, and operations
Schedule & Cost Oversight- Monitor construction progress against baseline schedules (e.g., Primavera P6)
- Review contractor schedules, look-ahead plans, and recovery plans
- Support project controls team in tracking cost, change orders, and earned value performance
- Validate contractor pay applications and quantities installed
Quality Assurance & Compliance- Ensure all work complies with project specifications, codes, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee inspection and testing activities, including structural concrete, post-tension systems, and MEP installations
- Maintain detailed field reports, daily logs, and documentation of construction activities
- Enforce quality management plans and corrective actions as needed
Safety & Risk Management- Champion a zero-incident safety culture in alignment with program safety goals
- Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure compliance with OSHA and airport safety requirements
- Identify and mitigate construction risks, particularly those impacting active airport operations
Stakeholder & Interface Management- Act as the primary liaison between the Owner, contractors, airport operations, and external agencies
- Coordinate with aviation stakeholders to manage impacts to terminal access, ground transportation, and adjacent facilities
- Support public outreach and communication efforts as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES- Provides direction on all jobsite activities within the Resident Engineer Field Office. Activities are directed toward the completion of the projects. May be responsible for multiple projects concurrently. Suggestions and recommendations as hiring, firing, advancement, or promotion are given weight.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 12+ years of progressive experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a lead field role
- Proven experience delivering large-scale structured parking facilities or airport infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and post-tensioned structural systems
- Experience working in active airports or similarly complex operational environments
- Proficiency with construction management and project controls tools (e.g., Procore, Oracle Unifier, Primavera P6)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or PMP certification
- Experience with aviation authority standards and FAA-related projects
- Familiarity with sustainable parking design (LEED/Parksmart) and smart parking systems
