Senior Resident Civil Engineer
Location: NYC
Salary: $180-$210,000 Overview:The Senior Resident Civil Engineer will serve as the on-site technical lead for capital improvement, rehabilitation, and infrastructure projects. This position combines hands-on engineering expertise with project management responsibilities, overseeing projects from planning and design through construction and closeout. The successful candidate will coordinate with operations, engineering, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the planning, design, construction, and closeout of civil and infrastructure projects.
- Serve as the on-site engineering representative, providing technical oversight and resolving field issues during construction.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and overall project performance.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Review engineering designs, construction documents, specifications, submittals, and contract modifications.
- Conduct site inspections, field investigations, and progress meetings to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, schedule impacts, and constructability issues.
- Prepare project reports, executive briefings, cost estimates, and project documentation.
- Support procurement activities, contractor management, and contract administration.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and organizational policies.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering, construction management, or infrastructure project delivery.
- Experience managing projects through planning, design, construction, and closeout.
- Knowledge of civil construction practices, engineering design, and project management principles.
Preferred Qualifications- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York or New Jersey, or ability to obtain reciprocity.
- Experience managing complex commercial, transportation, mixed-use, or public infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of project scheduling, budgeting, cost estimating, contract administration, and construction management.
- Experience working in occupied facilities and coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- PMP certification is a plus.
