Job Description:

Salary Range: $70,000 - $105,000 per year; DOE

The Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE), a leading source for transformative, evidence-based ideas about public education, seeks a Senior Research Analyst to support CRPE’s 2026-27 AI in education research agenda. This will include a developmental evaluation of "future-ready" schools that actively leverage AI and other emerging technology in their school models and CRPE’s Think Forward: Learning with AI annual learning forum and fellowship program. 

The Senior Research Analyst will play a central role on a dynamic research team, contributing to data collection and analysis across multiple school sites and supporting the design and implementation of the Think Forward Fellowship and Forum, CRPE's convening for national education leaders. The work will inform CRPE's ongoing efforts to understand how artificial intelligence is shaping teaching, learning, school design, and education systems.

The ideal candidate is a mixed-methods researcher with strong analytical and writing skills, hands-on experience working with quantitative data, and school- or classroom-based experience that supports understanding what's happening during site visits and observations. The ideal candidate will also have experience designing and facilitating high-quality professional engagement experiences capable of providing educational leaders with provocative and safe spaces to surface, debate, and synthesize complex challenges facing our educators and leaders today.

This position is expected to last approximately one year, with an anticipated early August start date, and will report to a Principal Researcher at CRPE.  

Essential Duties:

• Support and co-lead complex and mixed-methods research projects on AI in schools, school system innovation, and leadership for a new era of public education. This involves defining key problems and questions and designing rigorous, fast-paced studies that generate transformative, timely insights for the field.

• Conduct data collection and analysis, including qualitative and quantitative methods, to produce rigorous, high-quality insights that advance CRPE’s mission and are responsive to emerging trends in public education. This includes interviews, focus groups, and site observations as well as surveys and datasets.

• Support the design and implementation of CRPE’s Think Forward Fellowship and Forum, an AI-centered convening for national education leaders and year-long fellowship program.

• Use evidence to draw appropriate and important conclusions that are relevant to the fi eld and situate findings in current policy debates, research, and events.

• Initiate and lead writing projects, such as blogs or briefs, in partnership with Principal Investigators and the communications team.

• Regularly lead meetings (internal and external) and contribute to presentations for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.

• Oversee and support the work of junior research staff and/or event planning staff as required.

• Support research project management by developing learning agendas and work plans, managing timelines, and coordinating with internal communications and operations teams.

• Contribute to CRPE’s connections with the fi eld by proactively identifying and building relationships with practitioners, policymakers, advocates, and researchers.

Desired Qualifications:

• EdD or PhD in education, education policy, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.

• Evidence of expertise in one or more K-12 policy issues, such as school system innovation, artificial intelligence in education, or structuring education solutions that place vulnerable learners and families at the center.

• Relevant work experience with topics of artificial intelligence in schools, school district innovation, and the education landscape broadly.

• Demonstrated experience working in schools or districts, including experience in classrooms or conducting classroom-based observations.

• Experience conducting mixed methods research, including analyzing and presenting data and preparing reports.

• Experience successfully managing and coordinating complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.

• Strong writing skills, including the ability to produce concise and compelling research products designed for non-academic audiences, and flexibility to adapt writing to CRPE’s style.

Working Environment:

• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting and involve extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and use of a computer mouse

• Regular activities require the ability to manage and adjust to changing priorities, including handling time-sensitive tasks and resolving conflicts

• Demonstrated effective communication skills

• Ability to work evening and weekend hours as necessary on short or limited notice.
