Akima is seeking a Senior Recruiting Manager to support multiple Operating Companies across our federal government contracting portfolio. This position is primarily remote within commutable distance of Herndon, Virginia, with occasional travel and on-site attendance required for leadership meetings, hiring events, training, and business needs. The Senior Recruiting Manager will lead full life cycle recruiting efforts across a diverse portfolio of positions, including but not limited to executive leadership, cleared professionals, information technology, mission support, systems engineering, corporate, and operations roles. This individual will serve as a strategic talent advisor to business leaders and will partner directly with Directors, Operations, Hiring Managers and Site Leads.
To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess strong executive search capabilities, extensive federal contracting recruiting experience, and a proven ability to identify, engage, and attract passive candidates in highly competitive markets.
Responsibilities
- Lead full life cycle recruiting activities for multiple Operating Companies and business units.
- Partner directly with Directors, Operations, Hiring Managers and Site Leads to understand workforce needs, and strategic hiring priorities.
- Conduct executive search assignments for Director, Senior Director, Vice President, President, General Manager, and other leadership-level positions as assigned.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for cleared technical, operational, corporate, and executive-level talent.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs.
- Recruit candidates supporting Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, Federal Law Enforcement, Homeland Security, Information Technology, Aviation, Logistics, Engineering, Professional Services, and corporate functions.
- Manage high-volume recruiting requirements while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
- Provide market intelligence, compensation insights, and competitive talent analysis to hiring managers and executives.
- Mentor Sourcer’s while promoting recruiting best practices and process consistency.
- Collaborate with the Recruiting team to brainstorm new ideas and concepts.
- Support proposal staffing efforts, surge hiring initiatives, and contract transition activities as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company recruiting policies and regulations.
- Utilize applicant tracking systems, sourcing platforms, social media, networking events, referrals, and direct recruiting techniques to identify qualified candidates.
- Maintain accurate recruiting metrics, hiring forecasts, and reporting for leadership reviews.
- Lead or perform other recruiting related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of recruiting experience within the federal government contracting industry.
- Minimum of 5 years of recruiting experience supporting executive leadership, cleared professionals, information technology, mission support, systems engineering, corporate, and operations roles.
- Experience partnering directly with Director, Senior Director, Vice President, President, General Manager, and other leadership-level positions.
- Strong understanding of federal government contracting environments, contract staffing, proposal recruiting, and transition recruiting at all levels of clearances.
- Experience using applicant tracking systems and recruiting technologies. Experience with iCIMS is preferred.
- Knowledge of EEO, ADA, OFCCP, and other employment compliance requirements.
- Experience leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies, such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, LinkedIn AI features, and other emerging recruiting technologies to enhance sourcing strategies, candidate engagement, market research, talent mapping, workforce planning, and recruiting efficiencies.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and adopt innovative and advanced sourcing/recruiting tools and technologies while ensuring compliance with company policies, data privacy requirements, and ethical standards.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and consultative recruiting skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to successfully complete a background investigation.
