Full Job Description
PURPOSE OF JOB:

Route 92 is looking for a Sr. R&D Technician in our San Mateo, CA office. This position will support engineering by developing and implementing all aspects of catheter and other medical device prototype construction and device assembly testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with fellow engineers to create working prototypes, specifications, and processes for new product or product revisions which are consistent with a zero-defect level target.
  • Establish in-house manufacturing processes for existing and new products, support training new operators (in house and at contract manufacturer as applicable) and
  • Contribute to manufacturing of devices for verification & validation builds, and human use builds per standard good manufacturing practices.
  • Conduct product testing as required for product development and maintain thorough and accurate test datasheets.
  • Flexibly move between assignments and take on new tasks to meet the needs of a fast-paced product development program
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic manufacturing issues with little to no oversight
  • Update supervisor of work status or problems with recommendations for improvement or correction.
  • Maintain accurate records of assignments and results including documentation concerning materials, parts used, concepts, designs, drawings and processes.
  • Provide feedback on product revisions or new products to project engineers and other company personnel as appropriate.
  • Train assemblers when transferring products.
  • Maintain a clean safe and well-organized work area.
  • Maintain close cooperation with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing in determining and completing assignments and providing feedback.
  • Support company goals and objectives, policies and procedures QSR and FDA regulations.


SKILLS FOR SUCCESS:
  • AA in a technical field preferred
  • Experience with product testing utilizing Instron is a plus.


REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 4+ years of experience in Medical Device industry required as an R&D Technician.
  • Must have experience with standard catheter manufacturing processes (hot boxes, UV bonding equipment, laminators) in a certified clean room environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, as well as the ability to understand engineering drawings and documentation is required.
