Position SummaryThe Sr. Quality Engineer will serve as a key site quality leader responsible for driving active investigation, containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action of production defects and field failures within a fast-paced electromechanical manufacturing environment.
This individual will work directly with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and New Product Development to rapidly identify quality issues, drive cross-functional investigations, implement robust corrective actions, and prevent recurrence. The ideal candidate is highly hands-on, data-driven, operationally focused, and comfortable taking ownership of urgent manufacturing and customer-impacting quality events.
The role requires a strong factory-floor presence, excellent technical problem-solving capability, and the ability to lead investigations from initial defect detection through verified corrective action effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities- Lead site-level investigation of production nonconformances, customer complaints, and field-return failures
- Drive rapid containment, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification activities for manufacturing and supplier-related defects
- Serve as the quality lead during high-priority production and customer-impacting issues
- Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and R&D to resolve recurring defects and improve process robustness
- Monitor and trend manufacturing defects, test failures, rework, scrap, and field-return data to identify systemic issues
- Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies including 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, DOE, SPC, FMEA, and statistical analysis
- Lead supplier quality investigations and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Develop and improve manufacturing inspection, test, and process control strategies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies
- Ensure quality procedures and manufacturing controls are documented, implemented, and sustained in compliance with ISO 9001 requirements
- Provide clear communication and investigation updates to leadership during critical quality events
- Support transfer of lessons learned into new product introduction and manufacturing process development activities
Skills & Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical discipline; Masters degree preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of quality engineering experience within electromechanical manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated experience leading complex production defect investigations and root cause analysis efforts
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, process controls, and production troubleshooting
- Proven ability to drive cross-functional corrective actions and hold teams accountable to closure
- Experience analyzing manufacturing and field quality data to identify trends and systemic failures
- Hands-on experience with structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, CAPA, DOE, SPC, FMEA, etc.)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead investigations across operations, engineering, and suppliers
- Supplier quality and corrective action management experience highly desired
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 preferred
- Experience working within ISO 9001 or regulated quality systems required
- Self-driven, highly organized, and comfortable operating in fast-paced manufacturing environments
- Available to travel
Additional Information- Location: This position is based out of our Danbury, CT facility, with travel (domestic and international) expected
- Compensation: The annualized base pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $100,000 and $115,000 per year; the base pay offered may vary depending on several individualized factors, including market location, job-related skills, and experience. This position may also be eligible to receive additional compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission, or long-term incentives.
