Full Job Description
Position Summary:

Senior Quality Engineer responsible for driving product and process quality improvements across manufacturing and supply chain activities. Leads root-cause analysis, reliability testing, supplier quality, corrective actions, and continuous improvement to ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements. Acts as a technical coach to engineers and cross-functional teams.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead area quality management: internal and 3rd party audits, customer requirements, customer communications, corrective actions, PPAP and inspection strategies.


  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for complex field and manufacturing issues using structured methods (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone).


  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) through containment, root cause verification, corrective action implementation, and effectiveness checks.


  • Define and maintain FMEA (DFMEA/PFMEA), process flow diagrams, control plans, product quality standards, acceptance criteria and standard work in collaboration with design, manufacturing, and suppliers.


  • Lead area supplier quality management: supplier selection support, audits, quality agreements, supplier corrective actions, PPAP and incoming inspection strategies.


  • Build and maintain quality data systems, perform statistical analysis (SPC, capability studies, regression), and report quality/performance metrics.


  • Mentor and train on quality tools and best practices.


  • Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, engineering, and customer service to resolve quality issues and implement continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma).


  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, Timken Quality Management System, corporate standards, applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.


  • Participate in customer technical reviews, audits, and escalation management.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.


  • 5+ years of experience in quality, reliability, or manufacturing engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or MBA.


  • Strong experience with RCA, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, control plans, and PPAP.


  • Strong experience with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements and internal auditing.


  • Proficient in statistical tools and software (Minitab, JMP, Python/R for analytics, or equivalent).


  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional technical projects and quality activities.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical findings to leadership and customers.


  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


  • Certification: Six Sigma Black Belt (or Green Belt with significant project experience), CQE, CRE, or equivalent.


  • Experience with automotive/aerospace/industrial bearings or mechanical power transmission products (or relevant domain experience).


  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and quality management systems (QMS) implementations.


  • Prior experience performing supplier audits and managing supplier quality performance metrics.
