The ideal candidate will have a
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a
minimum of three years of experience in accounting. You should also be able to demonstrate an
in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), real estate accounting principles, and the ability to analyze financial statements. In addition, the
Senior Property Accountant must be highly organized, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and possess the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. Responsibilities:
- Review financial statements, reports, and other documents, including balance sheets, ledgers, and income statements, in accordance with GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- Analyze financial statements, identify discrepancies, and investigate any irregularities.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Troubleshoot and finalize monthly bank reconciliations.
- Responsible for accurate cash management, including approving A/P and requesting contributions when necessary.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets.
- Review the General Ledger to ensure proper coding of all transactions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments.
- Provide support to internal and external auditors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- MBA, Master's in Accounting/Finance, and/or CPA preferred
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
- AppFolio experience preferred.
- Accrual-based institutional financial reporting experience preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary range: $105K - $135K annually (exempt position), commensurate with experience.
