Full Job Description
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering complex, high-value customer projects and programs from initiation through to successful completion. Operating as the senior delivery lead for assigned engagements, the role combines exceptional project governance, commercial management, customer relationship management, and leadership skills to ensure delivery excellence and outstanding customer outcomes.

The Senior Project Manager serves as a trusted advisor to customers and internal stakeholders, building confidence through strong communication, transparent governance, and consistent delivery performance. They are responsible for maintaining executive-level relationships, managing commercial and delivery risks, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.

The ideal Senior Project Manager combines strong delivery discipline with outstanding customer engagement skills. They are equally comfortable leading a project team, presenting to a customer CIO, facilitating executive steering committees, managing commercial performance, and identifying new opportunities to help customers achieve their business objectives. Through exceptional communication, leadership, and delivery excellence, they create trusted partnerships that result in successful projects, delighted customers, and long-term business growth. They have managed enterprise private cloud, data center, and infrastructure projects from end to end in an external, client-facing, professional services or consulting environment.

- Candidates who live in the San Antonio, TX area work a hybrid schedule with two days in the office.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Program Delivery

  • Lead complex infrastructure, cloud, transformation, migration, managed services, and professional services projects from inception through closure.


  • Establish and manage project governance frameworks, delivery methodologies, reporting structures, and decision-making forums.


  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, RAID logs, dependencies, and resource plans.


  • Ensure successful delivery against scope, cost, quality, schedule, and business outcome objectives.


  • Manage project change control processes and ensure appropriate governance of scope and commercial variations.


  • Proactively identify, manage, and resolve project risks, issues, and dependencies.


  • Drive project teams to deliver customer outcomes whilst maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.


  • Ensure smooth transition of delivered services into Business-As-Usual operations.


Customer Leadership & Relationship Management

  • Act as the primary customer-facing delivery lead and trusted advisor throughout the engagement lifecycle.


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer executives, program sponsors, IT leadership, and business stakeholders.


  • Earn customer confidence through credibility, transparency, and consistent delivery excellence.


  • Handle customer escalations professionally and effectively, ensuring rapid resolution of issues.


  • Influence customer stakeholders and help align project outcomes to broader business objectives.


  • Create opportunities to strengthen customer relationships, improve customer satisfaction, and increase customer loyalty.


  • Recognise opportunities for additional services, project expansion, and future engagements, collaborating with account teams to support customer growth.


  • Represent the organisation professionally in all customer interactions, helping to position the company as a strategic partner rather than simply a delivery provider.


Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Provide regular executive-level updates to both customer and internal leadership teams.


  • Prepare and deliver project status reports, steering committee presentations, programme reviews, and governance packs.


  • Translate complex technical and delivery information into concise business-focused messages appropriate for executive audiences.


  • Present project health, financial performance, risks, mitigation strategies, and critical decisions with confidence and clarity.


  • Facilitate workshops, executive briefings, customer governance forums, and leadership reviews.


  • Influence stakeholders at all organisational levels, from engineers and project teams through to C-level executives.


  • Build credibility through exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.


Financial & Commercial Management

  • Own project financial performance including revenue, margin, forecasting, profitability, utilisation, and cost management.


  • Ensure projects remain commercially viable and align with contractual obligations.


  • Manage Statements of Work, project budgets, financial forecasts, and change requests.


  • Support pre-sales engagements, proposal development, project estimation, and delivery planning activities.


  • Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Architects, and Delivery Leadership to develop customer-focused solutions.


  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and escalate appropriately.


People Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional teams consisting of project managers, architects, consultants, engineers, operations teams, partners, and third-party suppliers.


  • Provide direction, mentoring, and coaching to junior project managers and coordinators.


  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence.


  • Resolve resource conflicts and effectively manage competing priorities.


  • Drive high-performing project teams through effective leadership and communication.


Qualifications, Skills, Experience

Required

  • Minimum 8 years of project management experience delivering complex technology projects and programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, or a related field is required. High school diploma or equivalent required. At the manager's discretion, additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification


  • Experience within external client-facing professional services, managed services, cloud services, IT infrastructure, or technology consulting organizations.
  • Experience delivering Statement of Work (SOW) based projects for clients.
  • Demonstrated success managing enterprise-scale customer engagements.


  • Strong external customer-facing experience with the ability to build trusted executive relationships.


  • Proven experience delivering projects involving private cloud, infrastructure, networking, security, migration, hosting, managed services, or digital transformation.


  • Strong financial management and commercial awareness.


  • Excellent risk, issue, dependency, and change management skills.


  • Experience managing global and geographically dispersed teams.


  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.


  • Ability to influence senior leadership and customer executives.


  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.


  • Experience working within Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.


Preferred

  • Experience contributing to pre-sales activities, RFP/RFI responses, and Statements of Work.


  • Program management experience across large multi-workstream initiatives.


  • Experience driving customer growth and identifying expansion opportunities.
  • Additional cloud or technology certifications.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. The compensation range for this position ranges from $119,583.00/year in our lowest geographic market up to 175,388.40 USD/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
