We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Project Manager, Spine R&D based in Raynham, MA.

Purpose: The Senior Project Manager, Spine R&D is responsible for leading product development projects within a structured, Gate-based New Product Development (NPD) framework. This role independently manages projects of moderate scope and complexity, ensuring alignment of cross-functional teams, achievement of key project milestones, and compliance with applicable regulatory and quality requirements.

This position is responsible for end-to-end project planning and execution, including development of integrated project plans, ownership of Gate readiness activities, management of critical path deliverables, and achievement of key project milestones. The Senior Project Manager proactively identifies risks, dependencies, resource constraints, and execution challenges and partners with cross-functional teams to align mitigation strategies with project and business objectives.

Operating within a highly matrixed and regulated environment, the Senior Project Manager collaborates closely with R&D, PMO, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, Clinical, and other supporting functions to facilitate effective decision-making and disciplined project execution. Through strong leadership, communication, and influence, this role applies established project management and governance practices, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and contributes to compliant, predictable product development outcomes. The Senior Project Manager may also provide guidance and share best practices with project teams and less experienced project managers as appropriate.

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead and manage product development projects within the Spine R&D organization from initiation through completion.
  • Drive projects through the Gate-based NPD process, ensuring required deliverables, reviews, and milestones are achieved.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, scope, timelines, and success criteria.
  • Facilitate project execution through effective coordination, communication, and alignment across project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and communicate project status updates, risks, issues, decisions, and action plans to project teams and stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Proactively identify project risks, dependencies, and execution challenges and support development of appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a primary point of coordination with internal partners, including Manufacturing, Finance, Purchasing, Sterilization, Packaging, Regulatory, Quality, Clinical, and other supporting functions.
  • Support project execution in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, quality standards, company policies, and development processes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices, governance processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 6 to 18 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes, and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced technical or business degree.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • Familiarity with project lifecycle management (PLM) systems within a structured development environment.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$92,000.00 - $148,350.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
