Job Description

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive project plans across the implementation lifecycle, including pre-installation site planning, customer engagement and change management, LIS connectivity, implementation support, and customer training. This role is critical to the success of Advanced Diagnostics' Lab Automation strategy, serving as the primary liaison between Waters and customer stakeholders to ensure seamless and efficient implementation of automation solutions at customer sites.

The position is primarily focused on supporting Lab Automation technologies and solution offerings. The Senior Project Manager collaborates closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, and the Clinical Professional Services team to develop, coordinate, and deliver implementation plans that meet customer and business objectives. In addition, this individual is responsible for maintaining implementation dashboards, tracking project milestones, identifying risks, and communicating project progress and outcomes to all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

This field-based in British Columbia, Alberta or Ontario position should reside near a major airport to facilitate travel across Canada, mainly western provinces, requires 50% travel. Travel may fluctuate based on project and team needs, including nights and some weekends.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage comprehensive implementation plans, including resource allocation, project timelines, and milestone tracking, to ensure the successful and timely delivery of customer projects in accordance with agreed-upon plans.
  • Lead the execution of the implementation activities in collaboration with Waters Commercial & Support team and customer stakeholders, ensuring all project deliverables, products, services, and outcomes are completed on schedule and within scope.
  • Establish clear, realistic customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle, addressing both technical implementation requirements and organizational change management needs.
  • Design and promote programs that support the long-term success of laboratory automation implementations, while facilitating a seamless transition of project ownership and accountability to the customer upon project acceptance.
  • Manage the implementation of LIS connectivity solutions and software customizations to align with each customer's laboratory workflow and environment. Serve as a key resource for software integration, application deployment, and change management initiatives related to new interfaces and laboratory processes.
  • Monitor and drive project governance processes that balance quality, cost, and efficiency. Monitor project performance against timelines, budgets, quality objectives, communication plans, and organizational goals, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Lead both the technical and operational aspects of customer implementation programs, leveraging methodologies such as Lean, continuous improvement, and change management principles. Ensure contractual performance commitments and workflow objectives are achieved.
  • Capture and communicate customer insights, lessons learned, and market feedback to Waters team members to support continuous improvement of solutions, services, and customer experience.


Education and Experience required:
  • University degree (Molecular Diagnostic or Microbiology preferred)•
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive project management experience within the medical device industry, successfully leading cross-functional projects from initiation through implementation while meeting quality, regulatory, timeline, and business priorities.
  • PMP Certified
  • Demonstrated fluency in English, including strong written, verbal, and reading comprehension skills.
  • Proficient with MS office suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Knowledge and Skills required:
  • Proven experience leading complex implementation projects and large-scale change management initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in project management and business software tools.
  • Knowledge of laboratory automation technologies, microbiology workflows, and laboratory operations.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), software integration, and healthcare IT environments.
  • Familiarity with Lean and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize workflows and operational performance.
  • Excellent organizational, stakeholder management, and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Collaborative team-player with the ability to influence and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while driving successful project outcomes.


Preferred qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Clinical Lab is desirable
  • Lean Blackbelt Certification is desirable
  • Fluent in French is desirable
  • Proficiency with Salesforce, and/or ServiceMax.
