The opportunity

We are seeking a Delivery Lead / Senior Project Manager to manage consulting engagements from award and kickoff through final acceptance.

You will own project execution: scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, client communication, and delivery coordination. You will work closely with our technical lead, internal analysts, independent reviewers, and external specialists.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can build effective delivery processes while managing active client work.
Responsibilities
  • Translate proposals and contracts into clear work plans, deliverables, milestones, and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage project budgets, resource allocations, dependencies, risks, and changes in scope.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact and lead progress meetings.
  • Assign work to internal staff and engage external experts for defined technical needs.
  • Coordinate technical and quality reviews before deliverables reach clients.
  • Monitor actual hours, forecast remaining effort, and identify potential budget or schedule problems early.
  • Document decisions, client approvals, scope changes, and delivery obligations.
  • Coordinate invoicing milestones and supporting documentation with finance.
  • Help develop realistic delivery plans and cost estimates for proposals.
  • Build reusable project templates, workflows, and lessons learned.
  • Develop internal staff so AlphaGov can perform more qualified delivery work in-house.

Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience leading consulting, research, or advisory engagements with multiple contributors.
  • Experience managing public-sector clients or engagements with formal contractual deliverables and acceptance requirements.
  • Ability to manage project finances, schedules, scope changes, and competing priorities.
  • Experience coordinating technical specialists, analysts, and subcontractors.
  • Strong client communication, business writing, and meeting facilitation skills.
  • Ability to turn complex requirements into clear assignments and accountable work plans.
  • Willingness to work directly on delivery details while building a growing practice.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in workforce planning, compensation studies, economic development, program evaluation, or infrastructure advisory.
  • Experience managing government contracts and supporting proposal development.
  • PMP or a comparable project management credential.
  • Experience building delivery processes for a consulting organization.

Benefits
What success looks like
  • Projects have clear ownership, realistic budgets, and documented acceptance criteria.
  • Clients receive timely communication and reliable deliverables.
  • Scope changes and delivery risks are addressed early.
  • Internal staff and external experts work as one accountable team.
  • Each engagement strengthens AlphaGov's delivery capability and government past performance.
