Job SummaryWorks independently and in support of various project managers in designing, prioritizing, scheduling, and implementing major construction & engineering projects. Initiates project scope process, validating preliminary design engineering schedules, cost estimates, and qualitative and quantitative risk assessments. Authorizes preliminary project scope reviews, scope definitions, and estimates. Chairs regular update meetings to management on scope, budget, engineering costs, schedules, and estimates for engineering designs. This is an individual contributor role.
Key Accountabilities- Interfaces and acts as liaison to address and resolve engineering design problems.
- Manages engineering costs and project scope of change control for engineering activities throughout the life cycle of a project.
- Directs project scope initiation process, develops preliminary schedule (design engineering) and cost estimates, conducts qualitative and quantitative risk assessment.
- Manages the design development of projects through the conceptual, design, scheduling, analysis, installation, testing and commissioning phase of projects.
- Coordinate with various engineering teams to address issues that may arising during the design and project execution phase.
- Reviews and authorizes validated design packages which includes the preliminary project scope review, scope definition, and estimates.
- Ensures design schedule is on target and monitors engineering costs.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure project is executed within scope while also developing contingency plans for planned outages during project construction.
- Supports and advocate for project managers by incorporating design changes requested by various permitting bodies and teams.
- Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements as well as provide certified drawings for permits.
- Chairs all scope meetings and provides updates of design status.
- Integrates project design and initial construction plans with Supply Chain, vendor and Project Manager to ensure coordination between engineering, procurement and construction.
- Provides technical support to the project manager.
- Coordinates inspection activities for equipment fabrications
- Collaborates with the project manager and engineering to ensure all engineering documentation is updated and accurate for all new construction and as-builds.
Minimum Education & Experience RequirementsBachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology or construction management, and 6 years of experience in engineering, project management, or capital infrastructure projects.
Other QualificationsPreferred- Project and or outage management in a utility setting
- PMI/PMP (Project Management Institute) certificate.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
