Responsibilities

  • Lead cost and schedule risk analysis sessions with clients and internal teams.
  • Chair Project Controls meetings with stakeholders for cost, schedule, and progress updates.
  • Implement and monitor risk management processes at the project level.
  • Manage and develop the project controls team through coaching and mentoring.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and client requirements on complex projects.

Wood is recruiting for a Project Control Manager - Senior to join its Minerals & Metals business focusing on project controls excellence for large-scale mining projects. This opportunity is onsite in Santiago, Chile.

The Role

This position will oversee the set up and running of all required project controls systems, tools, and interfaces to allow successful management and reporting of the project costs, schedule and risks on projects and specific assignments. The candidate will be responsible for managing and guiding a large team of project control resources in support of project delivery excellence. The role interfaces with a number of key stakeholders across the project and wider business. Primary focal point for the Project Manager/Director, Client or Project Team for all matters relating to project costs, schedules, and risk; and resources requirements. This role will develop and implement the project control execution plan for a major project with significant complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all project-specific control tools and systems are set up and functioning adequately
  • Act as focal point with client and contractor Project Controllers to ensure accurate cost and progress reporting
  • Monitor overall project progress, milestones, and forecast performance against plan
  • Identify and report against the project critical path, providing early warnings of potential slippages
  • Develop and manage the project Work Breakdown Structure and cost/planning control structures
  • Direct and oversee project work approval processes, budget setup, and approvals
  • Lead cost and schedule risk analysis workshops with clients and internal teams
  • Chair Project Controls meetings (Cost, Schedule, Progress) with client and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure risk management processes are implemented and monitored at project level
  • Manage workload, performance, and development of the project controls team, providing coaching and mentoring
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and client requirements on high-complexity projects

Physical Demands

Work Environment
This role is based onsite in Santiago, Chile, with occasional travel to project sites. The work environment may involve exposure to construction activities, varying weather conditions, and moderate to loud noise levels.
