Senior Project Accountant to join our elite team of engineers, technicians, and professionals. You will be responsible for full cycle accounting, tracking financial transactions, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data related to projects. The
Senior Project Accountant role is hands-on, ideal for an accounting professional who can balance the management of daily transactional activities with achieving longer-term objectives and managing multiple deadlines.
This is an onsite role based in Centennial, CO. The
Senior Project Accountant position requires meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data. This role will collaborate with project managers, finance teams, and other stakeholders to support the financial aspects of project planning, execution, and reporting.
What You'll Be DoingAs a
Senior Project Accountant, you will be at the heart of our project financial operations, ensuring accuracy and transparency in project accounting. Key responsibilities include:
1. Financial Tracking and Reporting- Manage and monitor all project-related financial transactions.
- Maintain precise project cost records.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports to track project performance.
2. Month-End Close Activities- Prepare month-end close workpapers for projects and general ledger accounts.
- Manage fixed assets, including additions, dispositions, and depreciation.
- Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure data accuracy.
3. Inventory Accounting- Oversee and maintain accurate inventory records and valuations.
- Track inventory transactions, including purchases, sales, and adjustments.
- Reconcile general ledger with inventory sub-ledgers for accuracy.
4. Budgeting and Forecasting- Assist in preparing project budgets and forecasts on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Provide detailed analyses of budget variances on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Support project managers in financial planning by delivering insightful project financial analysis.
5. Compliance and Controls- Ensure adherence to internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls.
- Support both internal and external audits related to project finances.
What You Bring- Associates or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with 4-6 years accounting experience, including minimum 2 year in project accounting role.
- AIPB Certified Bookkeeper with 4-6 years' experience in full charge bookkeeping role, including minimum 2 years in project accounting role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including:
- Percentage of completion revenue recognition concepts,
- Full accrual bookkeeping
- Purchase Orders, Sales Orders/Estimates, Progress invoicing
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Teams experience preferred, not required.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online project accounting preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems a plus.
