Full Job Description
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join their accounting team.

Position Summary

The Senior Project Accountant will partner closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance leadership to oversee the financial performance of multiple construction projects from inception through closeout. This individual will play a key role in project forecasting, WIP reporting, contract management, cost analysis, and ensuring the financial integrity of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the financial accounting for multiple construction projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and review monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and project profitability analyses.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, billings, and revenue recognition.
  • Partner with Project Managers to review forecasts, change orders, job cost reporting, and financial performance.
  • Process owner billings, subcontractor pay applications, and contract compliance documentation.
  • Reconcile project accounts and resolve billing or cost discrepancies.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities related to project accounting.
  • Review committed costs and subcontract agreements to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare project financial reports for senior leadership.
  • Support external audits and provide requested documentation.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Mentor junior project accountants and assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years supporting construction or project-based accounting.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Job cost accounting
    • Percentage-of-completion accounting
    • WIP reporting
    • Revenue recognition
    • Project forecasting
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as Vista, CMiC, Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar.
  • Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across accounting and operations.
  • CPA or CMA is a plus but not required.

Preferred Experience
  • Construction, specialty contractor, engineering, infrastructure, or commercial services experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with AIA billing, lien waivers, subcontract management, and retainage accounting.
  • Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls.


Base salary range $105,000 to $110,000 dependent on experience + discretionary bonus, medical, dental and vision benefits, 401K, holiday pay and vacation.
