The Opportunity with McKinstry

McKinstry is looking for a Senior Program Manager, Standardization to join our Offsite Manufacturing division in Seattle, WA. The Senior Program Manager - Standardization leads the development, release, and adoption of the business processes that run the business unit and leads execution of the department's technology and business process improvement initiatives. The role's current top priority is leading implementation of Acumatica, the business unit's ERP system - building and maintaining the implementation schedule, providing status updates, and documenting the business process decisions made along the way - with the same playbook applied to future technology and process initiatives. Beyond named initiatives, the role focuses on business unit processes, especially those that cross functional boundaries where commercial, engineering, supply chain, operations, quality, project management, and finance must hand off work to one another. This role shapes how the business executes and drives development of documented, governed, repeatable standard work. Additional responsibilities may include:

Business Process Leadership
  • Own the process roadmap for the business unit, sequencing standardization work against live production commitments, growth targets, and customer program milestones.
  • Maintain the business unit's process architecture: what processes exist, who owns each, how they connect, and where the gaps are.
  • Translate business objectives into standardization objectives and measures with leadership and report progress regularly.
  • Advise leaders on where standardization creates leverage and where flexibility should be intentionally preserved.
  • Initiative and Implementation Management
  • Lead the implementation of Acumatica (ERP), including building and maintaining the implementation schedule and providing regular status updates.
  • Apply the same implementation approach - schedule ownership, decision documentation, stakeholder alignment - to future technology and process improvement initiatives.
  • Organize and execute department business process improvement initiatives from scoping through completion.
  • Draft and propose OKRs for initiatives or execute against and report progress on OKRs set by leadership, depending on the initiative.
  • Source, select, and manage contractors and consultants supporting initiatives, owning scope, schedule, and budget for those engagements.

Cross-Functional Process Integration
  • Lead standardization of processes that span multiple functions, including order intake and contract-to-production handoff, engineering release and change control, procurement and long-lead material planning, production scheduling and capacity, quality and nonconformance, shipping and field integration, and warranty and closeout.
  • Define the inputs, outputs, ownership, and acceptance criteria at each functional handoff so work does not stall or degrade in the gaps between teams.
  • Resolve conflicting or duplicative practice between functions, escalating to leadership where process ownership is genuinely contested.
  • Embed processes into the systems of record - ERP, document control, quality management, and reporting - so process is reinforced by tooling rather than carried by individual experience.
  • Reconcile customer-specific commercial requirements with internal standard work so program obligations are met without one-off process.

Process Development and Release
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams through a standard development process to produce released, version-controlled deliverables.
  • Write and review policies, procedures, work instructions, and supporting documentation - including documenting the business process decisions made during initiative implementations - with process owners and subject matter experts.
  • Establish document control, revision, and approval conventions so processes are governed.

Change Management, Training, and Adoption
  • Develop implementation plans supporting communication, training, and sustained adoption of process deliverables.
  • Train project teams and operational leaders on the standard development process.
  • Communicate initiatives in small and large group settings, developing materials calibrated to mixed executive, commercial, engineering, operations, and craft audiences.

Team Leadership and Performance
  • Build process capability inside functional teams so ownership sits with the business, not solely with the program.
  • Track measures of process health: adoption and conformance, cycle time, rework and escape rates, audit findings, and other metrics as appropriate.
  • Route lessons learned back into the applicable processes.
  • No direct reports Day 1; may take on direct personnel management responsibility as the team grows.

Other duties as assigned.
