About the roleD-Wave is seeking a highly experienced Senior Production Engineer with a strong technical background in cryogenic engineering, manufacturing process development, and production operations. You will work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Service, Lab Operations, and external manufacturing partners. The successful candidate will independently own and drive manufacturing engineering activities associated with production, testing, scaling, and continuous improvement of advanced cryogenic products and systems, with impact across multiple teams and functions.
What you'll doProduction Engineering- Lead the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes for cryogenic products and subassemblies
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, assembly procedures, and process specifications
- Support production scaling initiatives while maintaining product quality, reliability, and safety
- Contribute to capacity planning, workflow optimization, and manufacturing efficiency improvements
- Evaluate and implement production tooling, fixtures, and specialized assembly equipment
New Product Introduction (NPI) - Lead manufacturing readiness activities for new cryogenic products
- Collaborate with Hardware Engineering to ensure Design for Manufacturability
- (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
- Support prototype, pilot, and first production builds
- Develop qualification and acceptance test procedures
Continuous Improvement & Quality - Lead root cause investigations and corrective action activities
- Support ECO implementation and configuration management processes
- Develop process controls and quality metrics to improve yield and throughput
- Analyze production KPIs, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions where required
Leadership - Mentor Production Technicians, Production Engineers, and Assembly Personnel
- Lead cross-functional manufacturing improvement projects, coordinating dependencies and driving work through to completion
- Support supplier evaluations and manufacturing outsourcing activities as required
- Communicate technical recommendations and trade-offs effectively across technical and non-technical teams
What you'll bring- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Cryogenic Engineering, or a related discipline
- 7+ years of relevant in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, or operations engineering, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting production scale-up of complex electromechanical products
- Strong understanding of vacuum systems, thermal management, and precision mechanical assemblies
- Experience leading root cause analysis and production troubleshooting activities
- Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects and priorities, make sound decisions, and navigate competing requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience supporting low-volume, high-mix manufacturing operations is strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is considered a strong asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems

The base pay range for this role is: 133,000 - 183,000 CAD per year (Burnaby)
