Job Overview
The Media business a standalone software product line at Gilbarco. You have probably seen advertisements and other infotainment content at the gas pump. This innovation allows retailers to monetize their screens and those "captive eyeballs," while engaging customers during their fill-up. The Product Manager, Media will be exclusively responsible for the cloud-based set of software tools that enable management, delivery, and reporting on those advertising streams. The Media business is ~$40M and includes revenue from both ad sales and SaaS sales. We're looking for someone who's ready to treat that business like a "mini-GM" - own technical and business outcomes while growing as a Product Manager and leader.
The Product Manager, Media is responsible for product planning and execution, including assessing customer needs, analyzing market trends, and prioritizing product requirements. This role acts as the contextual expert defining the product vision and collaborates closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, revenue growth, and high customer satisfaction. The position reports to the GM - Outdoor Payment and Media.
Responsibilities
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of product owners focusing on the Media product line.
• Engage with customers and conduct market research to identify new features and opportunities for product differentiation, innovation, and growth.
• Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for Media.
o Create business cases for new products/features.
o Prioritize product backlog and manage the lifecycle of new product features from conception to launch.
o Analyze performance metrics and leverage data-driven insights to drive product improvements.
o "Make the tough decisions" by intelligently balancing priorities across stakeholders.
• Own & track financial (sales & gross margin) projections & outcomes for all elements of the business.
• Identify additional customer needs for Media applications at other points of presence in the fuel & convenience retail space and determine delivery approach (build, buy, or partner).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, sales, marketing, and customer support to deliver high-quality products that meet market needs.
• Act as a product evangelist, representing the company at industry events, conferences, and with key clients.
• Lead a team of two Product Owners, who work day-to-day with the engineering scrum teams.
• Travel to meet with customers, stakeholders, and gather market insights (up to 30% travel).
Qualifications:
Qualifications
• 5+ years of product management experience in the software industry, preferably in the Digital Out of Home advertising sector, driving product strategies that align with business and sales goals.
• 2+ years people leadership experience.
• Ready to be a "mini-GM" of an innovative $40M business.
• Experience in business development and/or sales, including working closely with sales teams to identify customer needs, develop go-to-market strategies, and support revenue growth initiatives.
• Proven success managing all aspects of a product lifecycle.
• Strong technical background with understanding of software development and web technologies, enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams to deliver scalable and customer-centric solutions.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
• Strategic and creative problem-solving ability.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Comfort with ambiguity.
• "Get it done" mindset.
• Experience in retail, convenience, or fuel retail sectors is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
