Description

Do you love to develop new products? Do you enjoy taking ideas to reality? Do you love to tackle tough problems? We are hiring a Senior Product Engineer to work in our Global Innovation Center in Grand Rapids, MI with other product developers to create, develop, and implement new products.

What You Will Be Doing:

This position will be in our Ancillary Seating team responsible for researching, designing, and developing Steelcase's portfolio of seating designed to support comfort, collaboration, and flexibility across a space. This team blends human-centered design, ergonomics research, and industrial design expertise to create seating solutions that support modern work behaviors. You will be a member of a cross-functional team working to develop complex system products involving multiple materials and manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to apply mechanical engineering principles and knowledge of material science, manufacturing processes, and tools in product engineering
  • Strong understanding of tolerance analysis

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Proficiency in Creo and/or Windchill
  • Experience performing and understanding FEA
  • Prior experience in furniture industry or working with related materials
  • Ability to use various methods and techniques in solving technical problems


The starting annual base salary range for this position is $99,000 - $120,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Steelcase considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
