Position descriptionSonar is looking for a passionate, seasoned product designer to join our Product Design team. You will fundamentally shape the experience of our (agentic and human) users as they build the software of the future. You'll help ensure that our developer and agent users write better code, navigate complex codebases, and leverage AI agents to accelerate large-scale code changes.
In your product area, you will work closely with Product Management and Engineering teammates to ensure that the proposed solutions meet the expected outcome and that we collectively deliver the best products to help development teams write better and more secure code. You will also collaborate with other designers and researchers across the organization, ensuring consistency and contributing to best practices.
What you will do- Own and lead product design across your squad, setting design direction and raising the bar for craft, quality, and strategic thinking.
- Build for AI agents as first class users. You won't just be designing a compelling experience for human users, you will also ensure that the product works exceptionally well for our silicon-based users too!
- Integrate AI into every stage of your design workflow, leveraging it to accelerate research synthesis, automate repetitive tasks, and explore high-fidelity prototypes more efficiently.
- Listen to our users and customers to understand their needs. Develop a deep understanding of the SDLC and how we can enable developers and AI agents to produce better quality software.
- Work closely with other product designers to ensure a cohesive information architecture and a unified experience across the entire product platform.
- Align with your product manager on problem definition, providing design solutions throughout the end-to-end development stage.
- Partner with engineering teams early in the design process to vet technical feasibility and uncover edge cases.
- Mentor fellow designers through critique, pairing, and feedback - actively investing in the team's growth and raising collective craft.
- Shape and advance the Product Design team's processes, tools, and collaborative frameworks - not just contributing to them, but taking genuine ownership of their evolution.

Experience and qualifications- Experience organizing complex environments into logical structures and mapping user journeys that minimize friction.
- Demonstrated curiosity and practical experience using AI tools to accelerate research, ideation and design velocity.
- A self-starter mindset with the drive to identify UX gaps and propose structural improvements without being prompted.
- Ability to articulate design decisions and the "why" behind them to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort working in a cross-functional environment where feedback is shared openly and success is a team effort.
- Delivery mindset. Your role does not end when the design is handed off.
- Track record of driving design strategy and establishing patterns that scale beyond your immediate squad - influencing the broader product and design organization.
- Familiarity with software development workflows, the SDLC, or a background in computer science - you don't need to write production code, but you need to think alongside engineers who do.
- Experience designing AI workflows or agent-driven experiences is a strong plus, and will meaningfully shorten your onboarding ramp.
Salary RangeThe US base salary range for this full-time position is
$175,000 - $250,000 USD+ other benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
