About the role

We're hiring a Senior Product Counsel, reporting to the VP Legal. This role is focused on serving as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to Product and Engineering teams. We're looking for an attorney ready to guide the business on issues at the intersection of customer needs, legal risk, and business objectives.

This role will require collaboration with both our US and India-based Product and Engineering teams.
About the role
  • Support product and feature launches from inception to launch for your assigned collection.
  • Successfully manage relationships with Product and Engineering team members and executives.
  • Partner with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to provide pragmatic legal counsel to the business, with a bias towards action.
  • Advise on legal issues including IP, privacy, artificial intelligence, and compliance
  • Advise on transactions with both partners and vendors, development partnerships, integrations, and much more.
  • Have a strong background and practical experience and fluency with AI tools, including building workflows, skills, and agents.
  • Have mentored or managed junior attorneys and is able to teach them a path to proficiency quickly.
About you
  • 8+ years of experience in product counseling, IP, open source, IP litigation, and related areas at a software company, ideally in the AI and B2B SaaS space.
  • Passion for building programs from scratch and being open to new ideas and feedback.
  • Be able to communicate in a clear and understandable manner, i.e., no 'Legalese' when engaging with product and engineering teams.
  • Background in a law firm and in-house legal team.
  • Required Juris Doctor, with a license to practice law in your jurisdiction.
  • Computer Science, BSEE, or other technical degree is preferred and programming experience is a bonus.
  • Privacy qualifications (e.g., IAPP) are desirable also.
  • Strong team player across geographies
  • Cool and objective with the ability to communicate clearly under pressure
Location
  • This role is hybrid in our San Francisco or Mountain View office
Compensation & Benefits:

The standard base salary range for this position is $235K - $255K annually. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for variable compensation, equity, and benefits.
