Chemours is seeking a
Senior Process Engineer to join our growing
Manufacturing Technology team! This position will report directly to the
Manufacturing Technology Manager at our
Elkton, MD location.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:- Provide technical oversight for day-to-day operations at Elkton facility as well as toll manufacturing locations, including process monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Lead and/or participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) related activities such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) reviews, Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity, Process Technology, and other technical and safety reviews.
- Initiate Management of Change (MOC) activities to the process to improve the safety, quality, environment, and/or cost of the production unit.
- Perform tests on the process to improve the safety, quality, environment, and/or cost of the production unit.
- Perform tests on the process with new products (incl. new polymers and/or new chemicals).
- Review, revise, and create procedures and other technical documentation.
- Assist capital project front-end loading to ensure equipment is specified meets process requirements at the highest uptime and lowest life cycle cost. Provide process support to all project phases.
- Work on continuous improvement activities to improve area performance.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and co-ops.
The following is required for this role:- BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of typical equipment used in a Chemical and/or Polymer Processing Plant, and/or elastomer compounding unit (i.e. pumps, compressors, piping, valves, extruders, internal mixer etc.).
- Demonstrated capability to understand the underlying chemical interactions within a Chemical Plant.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize and execute improvements that support the Business goals in Safety, Throughput & Cost.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toes, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of OSHA 1910 (Process Safety Management).
- Ability to travel ~10% of time.
The following is preferred for this role:- 8+ years Manufacturing experience.
- Experience with polymer and/or elastomer processing and compounding.
- Capital project or continuous improvement experience.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power Platform.
- Experience with Aspen Process Explorer / IP 21 / SEEQ and SAP/R3.
- Familiar with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) technology elements such as Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Technology, Management of Change (MOC), Mechanical Integrity / Quality Assurance (MIQA), Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP).

Pay Range (in local currency):
$110,544.00 - $172,725.00
