OverviewDue to continued growth, our Power Delivery group is seeking a Substation Engineer - Physical Design in one of the following office locations:

ResponsibilitiesImagine a day where you're designing the backbone of the power grid-drafting substation layouts, running protection and grounding analyses, and fine-tuning relay settings that keep energy flowing safely. You collaborate with engineers across disciplines, solve real-world challenges, and see your designs come to life in the field. Every detail you contribute will help power entire communities-safely, reliably, and sustainably.
- Substation Design & Drafting: Develop electric substation drawings, including General Arrangements, Elevations, Conduit Plans/Details, Grounding Plans/Details, Foundation Plans, Lightning Protection plans, and control building layouts. Work closely with the Civil Engineering department to develop substation foundation and structure detail drawings
- Engineering Analysis & Calculations: Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as ground grid analysis and design, lightning protection, voltage drop, and conduit fill
- Technical Documentation & Specifications: Develop technical equipment and construction specifications and work scopes
- Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices
- Field Support: Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in Substation engineering, with a primary focus on executing substation physical design projects
- Familiarity with substation physical design parameters and associated information needed to complete design
- Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD
- Strong familiarity with NESC, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards
- Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE
- Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in electric utility industry, preferably in fast-paced consulting environment
- 500kV substation engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, with active NCEES record for reciprocity
- Field testing/commissioning experience
- AutoCAD Electrical design experience
Compensation RangeUSD $93,100.00 - USD $170,000.00 /Yr.
